ooo sounds good. Linux should be hopefully used on more mobile devices in the future....

is it a user friendly UI?

I've only looked at the manual once (to figure out the stand!) so yeah, I'd say its fairly intuitive.

I've had one hang so far when I tried to do alot of things at once in quick succession but other than that it seems pretty good.

@ Masseur,

is there a video player?
if yes can you read divx files and how long does the battery last in normal use?

yeah, there is a video player and a music player

I haven't tried these seriously yet and I'll need a bit longer with it before knowing much about the battery. I used it for an hour on the train this morning and on and off browsing here in the office till now and the battery is still showing full strength so I expect its not going to be a worry.

Initially I was turning it off completely and restarting it each use but now I realise it automatically goes into a sort of standby mode which doesn't take much power but it comes alive quicky when needed.

It can also check emails at user defined intervals and has a chat facility through google chat and jabber

its really quite a neat package and I don't know how I overlooked it before (probable answer there is its previous price!)

Just ordered one myself...
Reading the early reviews from 2005... it was unable to view videos on YouTube... have the newer produced models been updated to view this type of media Masseur?

not out of the box. I get a message saynig that I either have javascript turned off or am using an old version of flash player

looks like there is a linux vesion of macromedia flash player but its 2 1/2mb download and comes in tar format so I'll look into that a bit later if I get a chance

This is a superb bit of kit and the low price makes it even better. It's really quite quick - I have read reports it was slow but for me, it is fine. Made the internet/email side of my laptop and phone redundant, damn!!
Get one while you can, they must have sold thousands of the things.

the battery life seems excellent. It has a 1500mah battery (BP-5L) and after using it for around 5 hours yesterday the battery indicator had only dropped 1 level (20%).

Unfortunately the same can't be said for my N95 through which it connects as that was totally drained before I even left the office and so I had to give it a quick charge before heading for the train home!
