I persnally love the v9 and am hoping to get one soon but I don't see moto coming back from this.

They've been in free fall for a while now and it is looking rather bleak for them at the moment. Yes, they're likely to retain the US market share as for worldwide it's near impossible. I guess we have to wait and see.

My prediction for next year is- Nokia at number one and still by huge margin, Samsung leading SE only just. Motorola will follow not too far off then LG rounding off the top 5.

Next year Q1 everything will be revealed. I'll eat humble pie if Moto proves me wrong.

I just read about the Razr2 V9, and damn its a nice phone!

It has a full 3.6 Mbps HSDPA too, the feature Im looking forward to the most on the K850i. But I personally have never liked or bought flip phones and the K850i is still more desirable for me.

Have you not heard about the deal that Moto have done/ are doing with Kodak that when it comes online will mean greatly improved camera spec's. Also not all devices are just about the Camera for most the Camera is just a convenient tool that allows the taking of spur of the moment pictures.

The number of people to whom the Camera is the most important and deciding factor is actually relatively small IMO.

@EMS06

Will you be taken cream on that pie? no seriously though the specs that Moto are putting in these new devices is right up there with the best of them. They are moving away to new Os's and their choice of premium materials for construction are excellent. I wish i had a dollar for every time some one writes off Motorola as i would be rich. Personally i think they are going to hit back at the market hard and give Samsung and SE a bit of a shock in the process.

i just metioned it because you guys always say that SE are a bit slow when talking about tecnology. but i think that they are at the same level as nokia. SE has DVB-H phones in Japan with 3 inch screens and nokia also has a DVB-H phone in Finland, n77, and it boasts only 2,4 inch screen.

yeah isnt it? but it is better than a n77, because of the large screen and 240*432 pixels. when you are going to watch tv, the screen has to be big and not small

Please can you stop trying to find absurd examples to support something that just can't be supported just accept the facts and get over it.

The k850 when it arrives will be about as advanced as SE gets just now, hopefully SE will actually wake up to this fact that all those around them are upping the specs in their devices or they will just fall further behind.

But really Japan is a unique market and really can't be compared to anything else that happens in the mobile world most of the handset manufacturers in that market don't even bother making handsets for other markets and they all have these type of advanced specs as are 3-5 years ahead of the rest of world.

I don't see motorola turning it around anytime soon. The biggest challenge for any company is to keep a good image. Moto is going to have to move away from the razr era. Sure the razr was great but not the UI and what's hurting most is they actually do have a new and better UI, the stupid thing is they aren't implementing it across their whole range. Heck only one of the two razr2 have it and personally I don't know which. What I think is wrong with moto is that they can't seem to focus beyond the razr nor get over just the looks will sell. And even if they do realise that they are taking their sweet time at it and that won't help.

And moto do need to get better hardware too. You can argue all day that a camera doesn't matter or whatever but at the end of the day if I'm walking into a shop and looking at two similar thin phones I'll take the better spes and UI. Or even better why would you upgrade your motorola? If you have a V3x you might consider the V6 for HSPDA and outside controls but then why would you get a V8, maybe you'll get a V9 but if you have a V6 why? The specs haven't really changed.

Motorola was nice enough to give everyone a razr after it started as a premium device but now how many years down where's the replacement? Where the new Big thing. Its not there and it doesn't look like its coming soon.
Every other company since the razr was doing more in the design department but nobody forgot to cram in more features and that is what the consumer knowingly or ignorantly falls for.

And for some reason I feel a lot of american companies are like this, just like the car companies, they're doing well and they just let things be till everyone comes up and passes them an they're in trouble. And here goes catch up again.

@mustafabay

I really do suggest that you actually go and read about the specs for the V9 as they are quite frankly awesome, 11.9mm thin made of stainless steel and hardened glass, touch sensitive with haptic technology feedback Multimedia keys on the outside screen, a 500mhz Processor, between 512mb to 2gb of internal storage, A2DP, running a Linux and java OS. It also incorporates Crystal Talk a noise canceling technology and it looks stunning and is going to be a flagship product with good reason so very different from the models you are comparing it to and as i have said before am pretty sure it will be a big seller for Moto.
