Ok it seems like it didn't solve the problem at all, just made it happen at larger
intervals. This morning I got up after my phone's alarm did not ring, only to
find out that it had stopped receiving GSM signals again, so I had to reboot it,
but when I rebooted it and then locked the keypad, next time I wanted to use
it I couldn't unlock it, so I had to reboot it again. I then put it on the battery
charger, and now the screen's backlight won't go off!

Btw I have plenty of free memory and SwissMgr doing a Level2 cleanup
when the phone is idle...

It looks like your best bet is to format the phone and reflash it.

The reason I say to format the internal drive before reinstalling the firmware is because there's a commonly held theory that if you don't then some corrupted data will be carried to the new instalation.

You do this by opening the service menu, you get to this by doing the following:

press *, jogdial up,*,jog down,jog down,*,jog down,*

ignore the commas btw

I've already tried that though, I've formatted it and reinstalled the newest
firmware just a couple days ago so it should be running smoothly I really
can't understand how SE can put something like this on the market. Before
I bought it I looked at the specs and really liked the phone and the way it
looks also, but its almost unusable

Well there's supposedly a new firmware release next month, so you never know....

I am getting a feeling of deja vu though, in that R6 was meant to be the answer to all our problems.....

I does sound like you're having a particularly rough time though, is there any way you can get it swapped for a pottentiialy better one? It must be still under waranty.

No one should have to put up with what you're experiencing, simply because it's not a working PHONE, your P990 unit should be swapped because it is severely flawed hardware-wise. I've never experienced anything remotely close to this with R6D23. You SHOULD swap your phone or get a refund

I got the phone secondhand from some guy so I don't really have
a warranty, but I got a pretty good deal at about 235$

OK, now that explains a lot of things (like probably it got soaked in a pool before just like my unit and got all rusty inside, lol). You don't know what it's gone through. In actual fact, the only issues left to iron out for the P990 are minor bugs and multitasking, nothing even close to your phone's severe state. I think your last resort is sending it to an SE service centre so that they can at least find out what's wrong with it. I could only do justice to the P990 when I say it's actually quite a pleasure to use and I miss it quite dearly

Very true mode. It is fully stable and functional phone. Low ram i.e. multitasking is the real issue for me, so not even close to gabriels experiance.
