Most essential software without a doubt is the Opera Mini 4 beta. The best and most speedy full screen webbrowser allowing one-handed operation.

So is that better than the standard browser on the P1?

-documents 2 go
-Slick
-Fring
-SEVEN (way better than ActiveSync in my opinion)
-TouchCalc
QuickOffice is crap

See here why docs 2 go is better
http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/uiq/whybetter.html
Slick is the best instant messenger for the p1i, it has a very easy to use interface, easy to tap buttons, very low battery drain, uses very little of the ram (comparing to Agile that is a monster). better than fring for IM
Fring is very good for VoIP
Seven is better coz you have separate folders for each account and you can send mail from EACH account
TouchCalc is way better than the crapy built-in calculator, you can tap the on-screen buttons very easy.
