Enough losses on new phones
I take second hand phones in mint condition, use for a day or two for testing and buy if satisfactory. Save loads

I prefer brand new, although, my first phone Nokia 3310 was second hand.

My phone history from my first to present phone:

Nokia 3310 (Second hand)
Nokia 2100 (Second hand)
Nokia 3100 (Brand new)
Sony Ericsson K700i (Second hand)
Sony Ericsson K750i (Brand new)
i-mobile 902 (Brand new)

So it's tight, 3:3!

Second hand stuff is always risky to buy but did it ever happen with someone, bought a brandnew stuff having defect in it?

New as then have full warranty. With 2nd hand 1. usually no warranty 2. Its almost always been damaged by previous owner or has something wrong with it. dont need the hassles of 2nd hand goods.

previous phones I have bought have been unwanted upgrades from ebay.

Although my current phone is a brand new one that I got with my contract.
