It's 2 am I was already sad enough not to get any sleep and then read this thread. it made it worst.
I thought losing your parents was the saddest part our life but losing your child.. this has to be a lot more painful but I hope you have a lot of good memories of him that can keep him alive in your thoughts forever.
I hope you and your family get through these difficult times

Hi Doug,
As i have already said via Pm i wish you and all your family all the best at this difficult time and although i can't really imagine what you are going through. This is a poem that i have used i the past and hope you find comfort in it.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

When I had some friends who were killed last year in a car crash, this poem was read at 1 of their funerals...it's a stunning and beautiful poem.

@dougproctor, my deepest condolences, I can only offer words of consolation. You will have to be strong and pull yourself, as well as your loved ones, through this together.
@Dogmann, that is a really beautiful poem, and I hope it offers some comfort to dougproctor.

Doug your son had a good father to be there for him all his life (though it was short) and that made him luckier than many many others...

Thank you very much for those kind words. Never delay doing anything you meant to do with kids, it can catch you out, as we are finding. He had a good life though, short as it was.
