I like Guinness, that's a man's drink (and hefty women too). Proper ales are most acceptable as is a gentle glass of crisp cool cider on a warm summer's eve as one looks out over the village bathed in the lambent flame of a setting sun.

what kind of Ciders you like scotsboy? i take it its not all tht "skid" like white lightning and stuff...how about magners and bulmers?

@danny...Yh he has "a way with words" lol

Ha White lightning is real tramps fare, the church next door to me gives free meals out to the homeless and they always hide their booze in my garden before they go in .

My favourite drink would have to be a good whiskey mixed with coke and Ribena, I kid you not! Easily my favourite drink.

@Daedalus85

Have you gone mad?! Whiskey mixed with coke and Ribena! It's an abomination against nature and I shan't have anything to do with it! It's frightening enough that you mix good Irish whiskey like that, but please tell me you don't inflict that blasphemy upon a fine scotch.

I do not frequent the cider barrel often, but when I do partake of it's sweet refreshing libations I don't mind a glass of Scrumpy, although I think I would prefer a home brewed cider; something that has the love, attention and care of homespun hands to its name.

Lol, well, when I say fine, any will do, seeing as I'm a tight bastard it's usually the crappy Tesco Value or Asda Smartprice (although the former beats the latter).

The Ribena gives it a fruity kick. It's either that or replace the coke with Dr.Pepper

At least it's not a single malt! I'm not too clued up on the supermarket vintages, but they aren't actually too bad for every day drinking. Of course some of the more ... rambunctious, supermarket blends may indeed have to be tamed with a little splash of something.

Incidentally, and yes I am going to be pedantic about this, whiskey is Irish whiskey, not scotch. Scotch is whisky. Now you can sleep easy in your bed tonight for knowing that!

And JD? technically I know it's a bourbon but that's still a whisky/whiskey

also, Scrumpy, if you like that, get your chops round some Westons, my mates swear by the stuff, I myself can't stand cider.

Yes, your right, Asda Smartprice and Tesco Value neat tastes and smells like industrial paint stripper (not to say I've ever tried that personally, but you get the idea...), hence the Blackcurrent to cover it up with a lovely fruity kick.
