whats up people. i work for vodafone and sell/play with these these things all day pretty much.

the w910i has not got a great loudspeaker. volume is decent and sound is clear enough but it is indeed very tinny. there is one simple reason for this - the handset is extremely slim and design limitations must mean SE can't put a big enough speaker in the unit - its the same situation with the w880i.

i doubt anybody complaining has a faulty phone just different perceptions of what is decent quality for a loudspeaker on a walkman model - so dont sweat it if you think the loudspeakers isn't great because thats just the way it is...

the w850i probably has the best loudspeaker i've heard - very loud and some kind of bass although its still very tinny. the k850i has a much better quality loudspeaker than the w910i and going back the k800/810 do as well. the reason is obviously related to the size of the phones again...

however the 910i is a really nice model - slim (although you know what that means for the loudspeaker) - extremely high quality display with much larger font than previous SE models and the normal long battery life. bundled headphones are so so but better than you'll get with any other phone and if you're an audiophile just plug some better ones in...

personally i couldn't care less about the quality of the loudspeaker for music, i listen to music through headphones and have the SE walkman speakers (which are awesome for the size) if i want some portable audio coming out the phone, which isn't very often anyway.

personally i'd never go for the w910i however...because the keypad is awful, that's the worst thing about the phone by far! weird plastic type keys which are not a decent size or easy to press at all, horrible in fact. the 850i is easily the best walkman model for usability imo, just a shame the slider isn't the greatest out there and a lot of people have messed them up through wear and tear...

peace, matt.

After seeing the W850 a year ago when a friend of mine got it swore id never buy another High-end Java Walkman phone, and im staying with that after seeing this.
I may not even get a W960 after not finding Symella, SymTorrent, and some other apps that i use on my N80, couldnt find UIQ versions.
I thought SE had learnt from the errors they made on W850 and K800 but obviously not.
Now that has narrowed my list of what phone i must get when upgrade down to between Nokia N81-8GB and N95-8GB.

think its even more strange that Sonyericsson put a loud/good speaker in k850 (Cybershoot), and then a tiny/worse speaker in w910 (Walkman) ???

it should be the opposite !!

here is the sound on k850...its realy good & loud:
(remember that he "stop" the sound with his hand sometimes)

because this is just getting ridiculous people saying this people saying that about the w910s loud speaker
im staying with the reviews at howard forums because they ARE good thats all you need to think, and stay positive

the k850i is very bulky though so it makes perfect sense that it will house a bigger speaker. the w910i is slim and a poor loudspeaker is one of the drawbacks of any super slim handset.. it might not make sense as it is a walkman model but for the reasons mentioned, you cant really be wondering why. if you want a good loudspeaker on a walkman model go for the bulkier w850i or even the k850i as it has the walkman software, although the k850 is horribly designed for all kinds of reasons...

well, thats what you think..... me and all other k850-owners love the design.....

ps...the sound is of course little better then the sound from that video..(a tiny microphone on a Camcorder dosent give a 100% true sound)

see you.

I had the W850i, which had a reasonable speaker, quite loud, and it was a bit tinny, but if you sit it on a desk, it helps.

The W910i is a terrible speaker, but louder when plugged into accessories such as portable speakers, than the W850i
