Build quality varies from handset to handset. For instance the K800i has poor build quality but the W880i is superb. My Nokia 6300 has the most solid build i have ever seen in a phone but other Nokias have poor build. So its not just one manufactuer over the other its each phone is different.

agree...my lady now uses my old e61 that has seen sooooo mch abuse in 20 months, and apart from 1 scratch in the metal on the back you'd think it's fresh from the box! n95...well what a great phone, but the key-/dpad looks and feels worse than a chinese knock-off! k800 looks really used faster than any phone I've seen in that price range, while my niece still uses her t630 and it looks and works like it did 3 years ago...it's handset to handset; model to model; batch to batch and this thread is ridiculous in my humble opinion

Depend how u use you phone..
I would say K800 build quality is still oki.. Had mine more than 1 years now.. and it's still runs very well.. Only problem is the key button is losing the paint. So quality is still fine..
The best one I have to say it most be P800. Had it when it's was new.. and the phone still runs..
The list can be long ..
the poor Quality of SE phone I have used most be K700..
Last Nokia I owned was 8210, that phone was ok too
I can't speak about other phones I had never used..
I would say both company make good quality phones and poor quality phones..

Depends entirely on the country of manufacture, golden rule is, steer clear of Chinese SE's and Nokias that aint MADE IN FINLAND.

you so wrong
just look at Nokias (last flagship) N95...(N-serie is made in Finland)....
it had/have BIG problems with the build quality.
very bad slide, bad chassi, (it gave a lot of noices)......it depends which model it is.....(not where it is made)

thats right, n95 is very poor quality, the 8gb version is a bit better. but on a funny way, high end fones are usually more cheap built, then some mid range fones. just look at w810, what is great made, except the crap batt cover, that sux imo. then take a look at k800 crap rubber keypad ( rubber... ) and joystick, wherre no protection is given again dust, where w800 deserved that rubber ring at the joy...

Anyone used the N93? I can bash someone's head with it until he's unrecognizable and nothing will happen to the phone.

well if you take individual parts out and check their strengths, its a different thing. But the phone as a whole was a rock of Gibraltar, literally

@plankgatan
You know what your blind SE attitude is just so funny and totally unsupported by the facts, yes some early N95's had problems all of which were rectified a long time ago and perhaps you should remember just how many SE models have cracking keypads on virtually brand new phones. As for this ridiculous statement
"Camera ???? !!!!! Nokia have only one phone (who also is brand new) with real flash..and thats N82... (so you cant say that Nokia have stake on the camera features before)"
Interesting but i seem to recall my Nokia N93 not only was the first Camera Phone to offer VGA Video recording @30fps but also had a 3x Optical Zoom and that was back in June 2006 and it's build quality was awesome and as good as the day i bought it when sold some 9 months later.
Care to name me one SE Camera phone that nearly in 2008 can even match that? thought not.
Admittedly the N82 is the first Nokia to offer a Xenon flash but that is and was the only advantage that SE still had and now that's gone.
Besides your favourite two reviews all the others are saying just how disappionted and poor they have found the K850 to be such a shame for what could of been so good. Nokia have now easily caught up and with the improvements they continue to make in fast released firmware are in the process of being as good if not better than SE. To much of SE is what they used to do not what they are doing now.
I would say very few of us buy and use a Camera phone if we want real pics as for that we would use dedicated Camera's. You may well get some great pictures but the main idea of a Camera phone is point and shoot not having to take numerous shots and fiddle with the settings to get one good shot as by then the moment has passed.

My experiences (which isn't much) tell me Nokia phones have much better build quality than SE phones. I had the 6230 which I dropped in the sea, down the stairs and stood on but it still works. I wouldn't dare drop my K850i on the floor to test its durability...
