Okay following that logic you could say that vhs is better than dvds as the their are gazillions of vhs tapes out there. And dvd wins hands down against Blu-ray and HD because there are more of the other. And bacteria clearly rules the planet and is the better species because they outnumber humans followed closely by insects and plants.

Another TANGIBLE indirect evidence is that WM/S60 have gazillions 3rd party software support whereas UIQ3...well you figure.

Why do you put s60 v3 and WM on the same boat??? So, both have gazillions of apps??? Be my guest, check my-symbian software library for UIQ3, and s60 V3...its around 200 for UIQ3 and 400 for S60 v3...

To sum it, compared with the huge number of WM apps, even s60 v3 does not have an advantage...it surely not has "gazillions" (what a joke)

And why do you keep saying "s60" instead of "s60 v3", and then only use "UIQ3"??? Keep in mind, that if you say only s60, the number of apps will be much bigger (old incompatible s60 v2 apps), but same will go if you use UIQ generaly, you would have to sum UIQ2 and UIQ3 apps (again, you will get a decent number)

Regarding UIQ3...is around half the number of apps very bad, considering number of devices, time to market, number of users versus s60 v3??? Maybe not. Do users want more and need more?? Of course, but we have just entered the second year of UIQ3, and things can only get better, not forgeting what styletap will bring (Palm apps to UIQ3)

And there are some other things to notice...for instance, Core Player is a BIG name in terms mobile apps...the fact they did not leave the "insignificant" UIQ3 users behind should be a fact to think off - despite all its weaknesses, UIQ3 does matter for devellopers

To throw in my opinion. My last 2 phones have been one S60 (N80) and one UIQ (P1i).

Firstly, the N80 as a phone was very good at the time. It would require regular reboots and was extremely bug riddled in it's initial releases. Then Nokia improved it and then ruined all the improvements by adding plenty of bugs for good measure. Software support was really great. There were so many applications for it............. and I never used a fraction of them because they really weren't necessary for my use.

Secondly, the P1i. Superb phone, easily the most stable smart phone I've had the pleasure of using. Lets not confuse OS stability though with just adding enough memory to make it actually work as a smart phone. The extra memory is everything for the P1i. As for the software support, I can't think of any applications that I need on it over what I have. If they came out I would probably install them, say isn't this excellent and then never us it again.

As for the best OS out of these 2, they're both very good. One has support for software, the other has touch screen.

Man, the fact that UIQ still doesn't run withou a SIM, and you can't reset the phone without "log in" is one of the 10 reasons I bought the P1.
A well configured P1 is a very thief safe device, and the only smartphone I would trust my personal data.

Aha, so what's the problem of inserting a random SIM and still going in?None.
And whats with that log in - do you mean master reset?
Its a standard 0000 pass I don't even know if you can change that...

Yeah, a little bit.

I just hope that next P will be still business oriented.

*nods*. Functionality - then bells and whistles.. I guess I'm hoping the next phone will be another attempt, at least, at a balancing act between features, battery life and usability. And that they won't end up buffing the gui just to make it shiny and so on.

..Could be there will be a bunch of options soon, though. Now that UIQ is opened up to a bit broader market.

on the whole stating opinions as facts thing, what's this nonsense about WM not having copy and paste about? in WM you can tap and hold on any text to get a context menu like right clicking in windows, which includes copy and paste etc. If anything, a lot simpler and more consistent than UIQ3.

I used UIQ2 for three years, and UIQ3 for a year, before deciding to switch to WM. it has its quirks, but I don't regret the move for a second. The Tytn II is the most stable device i've used, and no I don't reboot everyday, or every two days, or anything like that. battery life isn't quite as good as my uiq phones, but then it's a far more capable and powerful device, simple as that - I still get a good couple of days out of it.

there's a lot of rubbish posted on this forum about WM - I know, I used to post some of it. in reality, it's a powerful, useable, stable OS with fantastic software support, and there's a reason it will always be the business OS of choice.

Jeez thank goodness us S60v3 Users don't have to create topics like this to increase confiedence and feel good about our devices.

Well
remember that sales has nothing to do with any profi-quality.
Sales means sometimes that the device is formatted to an average users habit's, spanned between maniacs and almost anti-electronic idiots, and all should be able to operate it somehow.
Does anybody question Porsche quality because they sell 60.000, not 2.000.000???
Also these comparisons are just emotional dragging beyond some point, also here
As for me, UiQ is very good.

Isn't it an extra program that comes with the office- suite, or something like that? I didn't think it was standard, or that it worked on all apps...?
