@fatreg, I do understand what you mean. Couldn't they simply advertise it as 10,000 free texts for instance, as you did when you were at Orange instead of "unlimited" as it clearly isn't. Of course, it does help to attract customers, but isn't that a form of deception? Or are they actually allowed to do so legally? How can a telco be allowed to redefine the meaning of "unlimited", seems pretty absurd to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm just really curious about it. Cheers!

Hahahaha bad luck to him! Exactly why I'm not on a plan... I kept getting charged more than I expected.

I have known for ages that once you are almost out of credit on your prepay account here in NZ, you can use the last few cents to browse the internet for ages and you don't get charged provided you don't put more credit on your account for a day.

So I connected my laptop to my phone and downloaded heaps until I started getting told by my phone that I had no service.

I then went into my local Vodafone store and asked what was up and they said that because of their extremely high data prices for prepay, I had used over $10000NZ worth of internet which surpassed their "decent usage" rules.

So they cancelled my prepay number. The Vodafone guy really didn't give a crap though so he sold me a new prepay number and off I went.

AND I don't have to pay! The good thing about prepay is the "pre" bit. They can't charge me for the internet usage at all! Heh heh.

Firstly if I was him I would refuse to pay the bill full stop. Citing the reason that a network should have some form of credit scoring or should I say a cap on how much one's bill can go before its deeming a problem.

Alot of networks here in the UK have this that when you hit your credit limit they terminate calls this is also done incase someone has stolen your phone and is running up a massive bill so it protects both parties.

So how they could have allowed such a bill especially on there home network not even roaming where the charges come in a little late is beyond me.
