I would never buy a phone just because it's from a certain manufacturer. But it's highly probable that I may shun certain manufacturers because of bad past experiences or negative reviews. I like the SE UI, and would prefer to stick with SE if I could, but ultimately, brand loyalty is the least of my concern. I doubt any manufacturer would give two hoots about who have been sticking with them or have been defending them against criticism.

As someone earlier put it, "Brand Loyalty = Blind Loyalty". It's your money and you have the right to get the best from any manufacturer. I too was an avid SE fan but was turn off by their offerings due to better phones from other manufacturers such as Nokia. It is not that because of this we hate SE but until the day SE got their act together, I for once might buy their phone again. Not brand loyal but intelligent to pay your money where it should belong. Hopefully SE gets off the block better in 2008......

Most are blind and dont recognise the revolution of touchscreen. The brand must not be a religious obsession. If there is not a reasonable touchscreen, forget the brand, because non-touchscreens will be the big loosers next year. I using a 150€little touchscreen phone from China, but dreaming of W960i. So dont be like religious lunatics: try a touchscreen of different brands. Be modern.

brand loyalty? what is that? who is out of their mind to be brand loyal? you're comparing loyalty to a sports team with a loyalty to a brand that which we PAY to use? do you pay to support your fav. team? is money of no importance to you?
when i pay for something, i expect to get exactly what the manufacturer says i will get. if i want to upgrade that product, and some certain brand isnt fulfilling my needs, why the hell would i opt for it? Do i own that brand? Is it my daddy's brand? What is SE? Is it a real life living specie that i have to stick to and show my love and affection to by throwing money at its useless products to show this so called 'loyalty'? If W800 made me love SE, then anything after that made me loathe it! I would say to hell with SE and their BS product line! I like nokias now because they fulfill my needs, not because i'm in 'love' with nokia or not because i'm 'loyal' to it.

Posted this in another thread (sorry guys SE blew it) but feel its VERY apt for this one too!

Hi guys

After reading countless posts about SE vs Nokia vs Samsung etc "SE is better because of this", "Nokia are worse because of that" etc etc people should realise that in this day & age IT DOES NOT PAY TO BE A LOYAL CONSUMER TO ONE PARTICULAR BRAND. Yes maybe we've all had particular issues (good & band) with a certain brand (phones & other products) & swore that we wouldn't go back to using that service/product/phone etc. But surely as a consumer we buy what we need, to suit our needs at that particular time.
For instance i've owned samsungs, nokia's, SE's (even motorola's!!) & at no point did the brand come into. I owned these phones because that particular model offered me the best camera/specs/size/weight/useful features etc that was on the market within my budget at that particular time, (well maybe not the motorola!).
Well I guess what i'm trying to say is "shop around", don't neglect a Nokia phone that may tick all your needs purely because its a Nokia & end up with an inferior SE model purely cause its "SE" (or vice versa).
At the end of the day you're only screwing yourself over.

Of course you pay to support your team, Kits, season tickets and the like all cost money.
You either believe in and understand the concept/ideal of loyalty or you dont.
In my generation Loyalty was a valued commodity, nowadays people switch allegiance at the drop of a hat (or the introduction of a new product).

I must admit i think brand loyalty is rather naive, if there is a better offer or device thats suits me i'll take it every time irrespective of brand.

Esato has a reputation for being supportive of Sony Ericsson, and quite rightly so, i have had an SE phone in my collection since the T68 and i am quite happy with the W950i & W880i that i own now.
The w960i & P5i bode well for future purchasers too, however, it never ceases to amaze and annoy me as regards the number of people who have abandoned SE and now spend all their time slagging that brand off.
Loyalty is a dirty word nowadays, would you forsake your favourite football team because they had a few bad results or had a bad season, i should bloomin well hope not!!.
I always laugh at the newbies who purchase the latest whizz-bang device at £500 and in their opinion EVERYBODY elses choice of phone and brand sucks, the mobile market is like the tide, it ebbs and flows constantly to and fro in favour of a variety of manufacturers.
So i raise my glass to all the SE stalwarts on here in the knowledge of great times past, and great times that lay ahead.

u can't tolk about Brand loyalty in report him to SE becausre his the fader of cell phone and smartphone ( ERICSSON R380 ) ericsson invent the cell phone and bleuthooth tech too, he introuduce tacticl screen in cell and color ,camera and vidio also .in colaboration whit Sony the big electronics company he contunous in this way.

I disagree Super, let me tell you something, on our website (mobile-review) i have witnessed the following scenario thousands of times over the years.
Some phone users are like fish in a shoal, they move, en mass to the latest/greatest device thats just out.
6230 users moved to k750i, etc i could give you dozens of specific examples TBH, these are people who shout from the rooftops about how wonderful their device/brand is, but as soon as something better from someone else comes out, they sing from a completely different hymn sheet .
now THATS truly sad IMO!!

Hi all,

Well sorry but you are both completely and utterly wrong and i have never heard such rubbish for ages, yes there is nothing wrong with brand loyalty but as a consumer it is completely and totally counterproductive to limit your choice of devcie by one brand and to preclude all other devcies just for a badge. Remembering of course that most of us pay for our devcies and the support we receive for them.

I am pretty sure over the last 20 odd years i have owned used and tested more devcies from Ericsson and SE than most and there was a good reason to. As for most of that time Ericsson and then SE offered and continued to offer the best and most innovative devcies where quality and reliability were a given as was support.

But from the release of UIQ3 to date things have changed and not for the better and until such time as things return to how they were and should be i for one will not return and i am not alone in this view either.

Now if you or others believe this makes me traitor or any other such nonsense that is just ridiculous but your opinion. I think i am just a smart consumer and buy what suits me at the time and from company's that give me the customer service and support i have paid for currently this is something that SE are failing to do and until it changes i will not buy an SE devcie again. Hopefully under the new CEO and the launch of the P5 things will once more return to how they were and should be.

Responding to the Open letter and the 10 questions Mizzle forwarded would be a good start as i am eagerly awaiting both of these and if there just reamins silence that will not be a good sign to me.

Marc

I agree completely with this.

How can you begin to compare phone manufaturers with football teams in terms of brand loyalty. The very term 'brand loyalty' is misguided.

The day SE, Nokia or any other phone manufacturer starts to reward loyal consumers with dicsounts off the next phone... then maybe, just maybe. Until then, however, its a brand ...plain and simple!
