it's true you don't really need the plastic in front.. it's a protection piece that's pretty much it...

Well it's possible! I sat and wresstled it for quite a while before i got the phone open. I actually used several pieces of an old credit card that i used to place around the gaps as leverage so that the phone stayed "open" while i worked myself arond. At the top of the phone there is a different lock- it's more of a "hook" if you get me.

I'm so scare to leave scars on the phone.
I planning to use the vacuum method first.

Just done this to mine, dropped it a couple of times and got quite a lot of dusct under the glass, and you could tell on photos.
Couldn't find my tor driver so I just levered it out using a very tiny flat screwdriver
It did scratch off a bit of chrome, but it's looking a bit battered anyway so don't mind.

SE should have really put the lens shutter infront of everything, even the protective glass. That would of prevented so many issues

tbh i see what you've done and i think it is good, but if sony ericsson put it there they will have done it for a reason, am sure they don't just do thing for the sake, like the one mentioned to protect the actual camera lens, just like on the K800i there is a plastic slide cover to protect it.

It just was getting on my nerves. Other than that i was very satisfied with the phone.
Was straightforward,taking the screws of the cover off and after opening the cover with the help of a credit card.
I had a small issue though. Trying to take the cover of the lens off with the adhesive tape,i pull very hard and i almost ripped all camera mechanism out of the shell. Fortunately i didn't make any damage. I took the glass off with a very thin razorlike screwdriver.
I don't care if it improves the photos,i just couldn't stand the dust!!
The shutter cover seems hard enough to me but time will shaw

I really want to take the glass lens off but could those of you who have done so tell me whether its possible to easily stick the glass lens back on again once you've had it off for quite a while?
It's just that I had to send my phone for repair a few weeks ago because the touch buttons stopped working and I wouldn't want to not be able to send it back again because I've taken the glass lens off!
