great opportunity for a youngster! yeah, weather is likely to be crappy but who cares about that when there's so much to see and do?

visit Glasgow before Edinburgh if you plan on doing both.

London has all the touristy bits, tower of london etc, but the actual population and atmosphere is multi cultural, places such as Manchester, liverpool, Edinburgh have a complete identity of their own.
And Beers about 5 quid a pint in London, 30 quid if you go in some "clubs"
Plus my hotel room was robbed last time i went their, so i have a jaundiced view i admit

£5 a pint? I rarely pay more than £3 for draught lager in central London pubs. btw, you don't get pints very much in Oz, its schooners and midi's (or pots)!

its a bit of a mixture, but its alot more is metric than UK
you can get 570ml pints in modern or touristic places but generally the hotel bars or taverns) (which would be the equivalent of english pubs) serve midi's (285ml - so about half a pint) and schooners (425ml - about 3/4 pint)

how old did you think i was
well, i think im mature enough (even if i am only 19, though i get what you mean, some 19 yr olds wouldnt be able to do it) to travel. Went to NZ with brother and few friends, coped fine, i know this is more on my own a little, but ill be fine....
masseur is moving soon though i think? i know he is coming to aus early march, but im sure he will help if he can (always so helpful), and i think he will be back in london within the 2 months (think the aus trip is only couple weeks)

ermmm >500.. being an aus, a job in a bar should be dead easy to come by! but as tbag said, your visa may limit you to 15 hours a week or so... if at all.. some tourist visas don't allow work at all...
oh, and you don't want to go up North.. as they say "It's grim up North" the South is where it's at!
it'd be like home from home for you.. there's a huge Oz contingency down here...

in fact no tourist visa allows work, you need a working-holiday visa for that., but thats easy enough to get for under 30's
you don't really wanna hang out with Aussies when you're trying a new country... send time with the locals!
Having said that, I do hang out at the Walkabout in Covent Garden when the Wallabies are playing as its a great atmostphere and sing-a-long too!
