I just checked the Indian SE product page and both, Z770 and Z780 are missing??? Can anyone tell me what's wrong??? Is SE not releasing these phones here??? I may not be the one to buy it but these would have still sold well here...

Perhaps your country is not one of "selected markets". Btw, do you have HSDPA networks there, hgautam?

We don't even have 3G yet... It's expected to come this year... Maybe that's the reason... But still, this phone would have sold on the basis of looks only... Only some publicity would have been required...

Hey wait a minute here!

THe Z780a states:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/c[....]eportfolio/specification/z780a
HSDPA,

while the Z780i states:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/c[....]eportfolio/specification/z780i
HSDPA & HSUPA ?!!

Look at the VERY bottom of both pages I've posted.

Heck under networks in the Jamaica site its also stating both HSDPA & HSUPA.

They've corrected it, it before stated 128x160px main display resolution.

But:

Memory
- Monochrome

... is still a highlight.

Oh I beg to differ! It may not be the simplest way, but when you are browsing using any A1/A2 phone with the basic Netfront browser you can send a message and then afterwards continue browsing!

On a A2 phone, simply press the call key (the key with the green phone on it) and it comes up with a screen allowing you to make a call. Press "Look up" and scroll to the contact you want to send a message to and press "Options", then "Send Message", afterwards you should be sweet. When sent, press the back button a couple of times to get back to your browser exactly the way you left it. Easy as pie.

On an A1 phone (forgive me, I don't have one nearby), you have the option in the "More" or "Options" menu to make a call or go to the Phonebook. You'll see it. Once you've found it you'll have no troubles working out what to do.

Anyway, seeing that was very off topic, I'll get back to it:

I think the Z780 looks so much better in these official shots, and I love the blue and white version version even more than the Z770 which originally I liked better!

@ Oli!!! SWEET!
THanks VERY much for that correction. I just tried it on my K850i (branded) and it WORKS solidly! SE just chaulked up another notch of faithful gratitude from me today. I nominate this for info on a sticky

I really like this z780 model ... I cannot find info is motion-sensor is imbedded or not; I may have just missed it.

No problem mate. Yeah its not the most obvious way to do it, but at least you can do it eh?! I was thinking of adding it to a tips & tricks thread but I wouldn't know what one lol.

No worries dude I've already added it via your quote to my lack of knowledge - its in one of my most recent posts. I just left out the off topic part ie last paragraph.

As you can see here in this direct comparison, the Z770 and Z780 models are not as identical as you might think! While the styling is undeniably similar, and rather unoriginal, though very stylish, there are many differences.

For example:

The Z780 is a few millimeters thicker than the Z770 (presumably for the GPS).
The Z780's camera is positioned higher up.
The Z770 has an external M2 slot on the RHS. I'm unsure where it is on the Z780. Maybe under the battery cover.
There are hardly any parts that are the same on each of the phones. The battery covers are different. The volume keys are different. I'd say 90% of the casing is different (so no home conversions probably!).

Z780 was announced as "Z780" and it was named like this on SE products site. And now after few days they've changed it to "Z780i"

The M2 slot is on the LHS. And the fastport seems to be at the bottom of the phone. But I still can't see where the video call cam is located.
