I'd try reflashing the phone, as it seems it's the download routine in the firmware that's causing somekind of system error. I guess this has the same affect that a critical error has in winXP - the default reaction is to reboot the system. Looks to me like your firmware has become corrupted somehow.

i used suse to install the latest firmware, when i ran it it my pc said that my phone was up to date and asked me if i wanted to continue anyway, i did, and stared downloading somthing when reached 100% it went to install whatever it was that it downloaded, but a popup windowd appeared saying that there was an error an i shloud do the process again, did, and the same thing happens. any ideas?

Apart from trying a different USB port, deleting the contents uf SEUS's 'db' folder before repeating the update (this will make it download a new copy of the firmware), I have no suggestions, apart from taking it to service, as it could well be a hardware fault in the memory. I guess the more exhaustive your own experiments, the better the argument for getting it fixed/replaced by SE.
