And strictly speaking there shouldn't be a problem with this, yet people are jumping to conclusions and getting the java platform and the OS mixed up.
@boy.in.pink broadly speaking you are correct - Java is not an OS, however it can be - the Blackberry RIM OS is a J2ME based (but with completely proprietary apis).
