I'm not going to be buying any Se phones with the fastport on the side. I can't stand it on the w890, didn't they realise how stupid it is? Or were they hoping we would buy one of their bt headsets instead?

Hmm, what if SE kept both pop connector postions on each phone. That way, you would use which ever one suits your current activity... So who thinks having two pop connectors in a phone is a good idea? Clearly we won't be seeing 3.5mm jacks in SE phones soon.

It so sad to see. A once so great company is now going down the drain because they have alot of supid people working in high positions.
Mostly people here sony would bring guts and extra inovation to ericsson. Well nothing special from sony so far, appart from branding, which is extra cash for sony.
Do something daring, but someone of esato (preferably and oldie) in charge and then you'll see SE grow to the 2nd place within 2years.

I do not think they were "thinking"
They were counting the money they would do with new accesories...shame shame,
it is sooo uncomfortable to write fast sms with the w910 and one hand

The connector has moved to the side on the thinner handsets because it was required to ensure the phone casing had the required strength - not because of it not getting caught up in a pocket or anything like that (whoever said that was just guessing a reason).
It's quite a large connector, so SE will have to redesign it if they want to go back to putting it on the bottom (as they have on some of the current crop, such as the C702). As we see thinner models, the current connector just isn't up to the job - but the downside will be needing a bunch of new accessories and chargers.
If you look at LG and Samsung handsets, you'll see that they usually have the socket on the side too. Apple has a nice thin one, which allows it to go at the bottom. Perhaps SE might wish to take note.
