So, I've installed nav4all and got it to work by setting LAPI in 'GPS settings' (before it would only look for BT GPS mouse )

This part sorted (I have a working navigation app now), I'm still baffled why Wayfinder, which is preinstalled, won't work out of the box? It keeps claiming there is no GPS signal when there is. Amaze gps does the same. What do I need to alter in the settings of either one to make it work?

Folks, I've been experimenting with trekbuddy + offline maps and it seems to provide a pretty decent performance.

One thing I cannot seem to find a setting for (in the phone) is how to avoid the screen to "switch off" while I'm using any GPS application (including the embedded "Tracker").

it is quite annoying to press the phone keys every 10 secs while driving

Had that problem with my W800. When downloading something with opera mini, and the light go off, it was paused until the next power up of the light... so annoying. it was not the case with my K800 though... The same may be happening with the GPS apps you are using...

Hi Strizlow800,
actually the app keeps on running. it is just the light auto-dimming that is not ideal when driving

Hi guys...
I seem not to understand everything in this thread..But what seems to be the bottomline is that you cannot have a continuous free access to the GPS like normal navigators do??

..is that the case?
In that case,it seems worthless to me paying a 'using fee' for something that I could have for free just by buying a cheep Navigator for that purpose only!

Anyone using Wayfinder? - it seems buggy to me. Has locked up my phone twice and had to remove the battery both times.

Hi,

I've used wayfinder a few times now and there's pros and cons imho.
Pro: the screen lights stays on while navigating (bring a car charger coz battery WILL run out!)

Con: when (not if!) wayfinder freezes (has happened when loosing the GPS connection) it does mean take out battery (which is very hot) and start all over.
Con: when navigating from A to B all is well in Vlammetje-land. But when putting in a new route WITHOUT switching off Wayfinder first and restarting the app, it will fail to complete a route from B to C. Message is 'contact your operator'.

Not had a chance to fiddle with other nav-apps so far. Screen-light seems a 'stupid' issue to not have considered??

Thanks for that. It's good to know I am not the only one having problems.

I just received an email from wayfinder support as I had an issue with the wayfinder7 app disappearing from the phone (solved by reflashing!!). In my reply to them I have asked if there is a newer version with less bugs!
