Never had a problem with an SE joystick myself but never realy had one for more than about 6 months so not a surprise really.
I dont know if SE have decided to actually listen to their users because they appear to have stopped adding joysticks to their new ranges now.
I bought mine in october or september in 2007. Now sum days ago it broke. i gonna try fix it but the prob is that i flashed my phone so they maybe see's that so they tell me to f**k off.. -.-

I had my K810i for 10 months now and i had no problems with mine at all. I've been using it to call, txt, e-mail, wap, photos ect and very happy with it.
How long had you phone for since you have got SE look at your phone and said you need to pay for the repair.
Here in the UK Sony gives 2 years warranty which entitles you to free software and hardware repairs within that time, but i not sure if it is the same in Sweden?

You really think sending 600 text messages a day isn't much??!!
600 is much! Anyway.. 200 is not. I often send 200 messages a day.
But keep in mind that the_river said 100-600 a day so it probably happens that today he 'only' send 100 messages. Instead of 600.
Anyway.. about the joystick. I don't really like the K810's joystick as well. I think it's not good as K800's. Well, K800's joystick is not that good either but at least I feel it's better.

OK when we are talking about heavy usage of the phone... Here is what do I do with mine K800(810):
- Minimum 4-5 hours of music (on headphones)... I don't use playlists so i browse the songs with the joystick manually...
- while listening to music I always play some java game (on the joystick of coourse... hate numeric keys)...
- write about 10-30 sms a day
- 1-3 hours browsing before I go to bed...
So my K800 is doing well after 1 year of heavy use...
I dont think their so called "improvements" are such a big difference between k800 and k810.. i dont think the price is worth it either. a girl in my class had a k800 for like 3 years i belive.. she sends i guess more than 150 sms per day.. and what Noooot broooken.. i guess im just stupid and unlucky that JUST MINE.. yeah MY phone broke..

: as can see, people dont use the voice call anymore
150-200 is too much for me!!!!!!!
I normaly send 15-20 sms per day and that is when i send a lot
If you write 600 sms in one day is like 25 per hour

how much time do you take to write a sms 1 or 2 minutes
Thats almost and hour.
You are a SMS Adict!!!

If you said you brought your K810i in 2007, then you had it only for 9-10 months so you are still well within your warranty. But as you have tried to "re-flash" your phone, that can be considered as voiding the warranty if SE discovers it has been tampered with.
It sounds like you have a problem with you software, but regarding your joystick problem, i don't think you deliberilty broke it by "over using" it, so really it should be repairable under your warranty.

Have my K800i for more than 2 years now and the Joystick still goes as it should be.
And playing alot of games when i'm in the train.. and play with Joystick
I found it to bad that they stopped using them since i find them so easy to use instead of the D-pad.
