I always buy my phones on a contract, because the 12mnth total is often cheaper than a sim free price, i have no problem with that.
I have a big problem with the casual use of the word " free", i would like to see it called "no deposit" i think thats far more grown up.
FREE;... Without payment,costing nothing to the recipient,.....OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY.
Note, if the phone is free you could stop paying the contract without giving the phone back. perhaps i`ll try it.

guys i made this board because at first the website made it look like it was "free" on t-mobile £13.99 a month but then someone pointed out it was only "free" on the Orange network. a very deceiving website...

Im NOT condoning this as acceptable behavior, but a few years ago I had a some financial problems and only made 2 payments to orange.. They eventually closed the account down and sent my outstanding balance including the rest of my contract term to a collections agency who hassled me for ages via post, they eventually stopped and orange sent me a letter to advise that they had written off my bad debt and would never accept me onto another contract. They NEVER stopped the phone from working though! So that was nearly free
I wouldnt advise doing this to anyone as they have probably changed the way they work and you could get yourself into a whole heap of trouble!!!

@jellyellie, yes selling mobiles is all about deceit, it`s the new "double glazing" i think they are often out of order. i asked about the "free" GPRS on a contract in an Orange shop the other day (i was bored) the guy happily lied to me saying it was for the whole 12mnths,when i knew it was only for 3mnths, so i told him & he just said, oh i didn`t realise.....try telling Orange that i thought, when a £500 bill turns up at month 4.

I'm guessing that policies from any network company have changed now (including the law) and so I'd say that these days people will be less likely to pull of what you did Iver... oh well

that's an unfair generalisation as there are plenty of people out here who are just trying to get you the best deal. yes, there are dodgy twats in the industry, but name me one industry which doesn't have some problematic elements.
