what's that got to do with it? Just because more monkeys buy Nokia Samsung and Motorola that automatically makes them better? More people buy Volkswagons than Porsches, which one do you think is better?

Besides anyone is entitled to prefer one company over another regardless of marketshare figures.

Monkeys? So you think you're higher than the people who buy phones from Nokia, Samsung, and Motorola? People buy from them because they are well known companies that deliver a huge variety of phones compared to the small variety in SE's portfolio. Those companies probably offer people phones with the functions they use frequently at a price that's probably lower than what SE offers. Not bashing for your love for SE, I liked SE in the W900 days, but lately their lineup is lacking. Could start with bigger screens in their mid to high end phones. a 2.2 inch on the W902? Come on, that's kinda pathetic, the same goes for the W980, a $500 phone with a 2.2 inch screen, the same size as the TM506 for T-Mo USA that costs $160 retail. People will definitely buy the C905, but how many? There are other solutions with much more potential that might be a tad more expensive. The truth is that people will buy the 8MP monsters, but a lot of people will consider $/feature of the phones.

That volkswagon and porsche example is so flawed its not even funny. One is a two seater 100,000$ sports car and the other also makes family sedans. Who's the monkey now?
People seem to love nokia even though they sells very expensive stuff like N95 which was a huge hit. I dont remember SE selling that many W960s, i dont remember nokia having so many dissatisfied customers as P990 ones and i dont remember nokia selling half assed phones like W910, W890, W980 which retail for twice their actual worth. People buy what they like, thats what sales figures show. Shit never sells.

you guys can argue all you want, but I called a guy a monkey after he tried to infer that someone who preferred SE was wrong because Samsung and LG sell more phones. That to me is a monkey - or rather a sheep maybe would have been a better term Just follows the crowd.

Now you think the car analogy is a weak argument, but arguing that since Samsung and LG make more phones than SE they therefore make better phones is a pretty weak argument also. I used the car analogy only to demonstrate that popularity is not necessarily what makes something better or not. I wasn't making a direct comparison.

But tbh honest, to me SE are the porsche to Samsung's VW anyway.

When SE was on top with their K750, no one even knew of LG. Now LG has almost the same market share as SE(i think) and they have surpassed them in features. SE has come to a point where their CEOs are even doubting the S and E partnership.

Huh! When the K750 was out there were just as many people complaining about how crap SE had become. The K750 itself had a couple of nightmarish firmware releases. Yet it's now looked upon as one of SE's biggest successes.

So I don't pay a lot of attention to the moaning and groaning that goes on here at esato, nor do I believe early poor firmware releases will make or break a model. Except in the case of the P990 where a real opportunity was lost, most SE firmware's end up reliable well before the end of life of the model.

btw, LG may be rising, but more at motorola's expense than at SE's.

I never said just cuz they make more phones, they're better. I'm just saying that they do make better phones compared to SE's because they keep going forward, but SE capped out when everybody knows they can do so much more.

well that's a much better argument, but I don't agree with you that SE have given up making good phones. There have been a couple of major screw ups by SE, but by no mean is their whole model line up a mess.

There are some great, innovative, stylish and reliable SE phones available atm.

which phone would you exactly call great? I would say the N95 8GB is great. The iNNOV8 is great. The newly announced 8MP LG phone is great and the i900 is great from samsung. Cant really see any SE topping any of that

Ok, X1 is a very good phone but great? Nops. What makes it great, innovative? And how much of a credit for X1 should go to SE anyway considering a lot of technical expertise is also coming from HTC
