i had the same problem i managed to overcome this by downloading the google mobile software and opera mini 4.2 web browser and installing it in my applications on the c905
http://www.google.com/mobile/sony/
http://www.opera.com/mini/
download opera mini and google via your pc make sure your c905 is connected to the PC via the USB cable that came with your phone select media transfer move the downloaded files over to the dirctory stated below
My Computer\C905\Phone Memory\other
C905 hanset
goto organiser\media album\other
now you should see opera mini and google there click on them to install into my applcations
My applications
oganiser\my applications
Opera
dont type anything into the addressbar instead click down to the google seach bar press the center button on the c905 then select google and type what you please into the search (allow appplication to send to the internet)
that should be you connected to the internet via wifi
do the same with the google software
there is nothing wrong with the wifi on the C905
Orange and other phone companys has customized firmware and there web browser's is set only to connect through GPRS so that their customers has to pay for a service that is free via wireless hotspots and at home through your wireless router
hope this help's

I also have the almost the same problem with my new(second hand, but new in box, unbranded) C905.
But my seems to have Telenor settings(G2/G3) even though it should have been unbranded.
I now have a TeliaSonera simcard and the phone works well for calls, sms, mms etc.
If i connect using the WiFi:
I get the message:
"You don't have permission to access / on this server.
apache server at
mobil.telenor.se Port 80
If I then try to go to another page it works just fine on most pages, but nor Gmail that gives me a popup error: Communication Error. Try again or contact your isP for support.
If I connect using the G2/G3:
Everything works fine except that I can't get rid of the Telenor startpage, but every other page works just fine.

Hi guys.
I've just debranded my C905, and it has connected to my home network, (I can see the green symbol top left) and I have turned on Network Sharing, however I still can't see the phone's drives mapped on my laptop.
I have deleted the connection and started again and I have rebooted my laptop.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.
EDIT: I can access the phones music on my media streamer but still don't know how to access my phones photos on my laptop via WiFi.
Should this be possible?

Make sure network sharing is on, then type \\C905 (or whatever your phones bluetooth name is) If it comes up with two icons "phone memory" and "memory card" then you should be all set. If not, try restarting both your phone and the pc (If you make network sharing changes, I find you must restart the phone)
Edit: only type two backslashes
