An Android phone from SE is expected in the summer of 2009, and better still would be high end.....

Great, this is the kind of news I was hoping for since SE announced to quit with UIQ. I'm really glad with my G900 as my first smartphone, even with it's bugs and disadvantages (like interface speed) and I would like my second smartphone to be a SE too. Imagine what's possible in a year or two. In about ten years a mobile phone changed into a mini-pc you can also call with!
(Still hope SE will see that a powerfull mediaplayer should have it's own processor, especially when other applications are running in the background. 208 mHz in G900 is not enough for a stable multi-tasking phone.)

Well i wouldnt expect much from android as a smartphone , right now. ITs so new and only 1 device...so it will take time before we get softwae availability... and I am quite strong supporter of symbian(and wm)....

Nokia has one OS...they're top manufacturer.

Apple has one OS...they're top smartphone.

is now going to juggle 3 OS's. Seems like they're lost in the woods to me. They need to FOCUS on one OS and make really great products based on THAT OS only.

Well, Nokia and Apple own their OSs, so its easy for them to call the shots and do whatever they want. can't really hedge all its bets on one OS.

I am sure Nokia's "non-OS"(read low-ends) phones provide for more than 70% of the total market.

So it's better to hedge bets on three OS's they can't control?

Dont forget the A100 and the A200 series. They are SE's proprietary.

Well, HTC are juggling two OS's and they seem to be doing fine.

Moto had 4 going at the same time and they're still afloat.

@se_dude: The A1 & A2 are embedded lines of code and not OSs in the strict sense.

Well, I would say Nokia and Apple are floating, and the rest are treading water really hard
