I am no ware near finishing it yet thats why... you say no image came up, i have just been uploading a few backgrounds, so that may be why.

I have had to upload them to my server, because Esato will not let you upload stuff over 3k without it messing around with them. I have optimized them for mobile 256 colour, so I dont want them any smaller, the only way I am able to share them is to post them in the forum. Is there anything you would like to see as a desktop for your phone? I have leant to optimize them very well for phones now, so you see the right colour, in the (near enough) quality.

Ehm, no, not really.

I think only if you have T1 you should have 'your own' server, I have a server, but its rented from a datacenter at work, so its a little easyer for me. You see, uploading is around twice as slow as downloading, so even if you have DSL, it'll be very very slow, especially if you have more than one person on your site at a time. They are also very hard to maintain, and require backup, UPS' etc. If you insist on having your own, use Windows XP Pro, with IIS5.1 as the server (on the WinXP CD), it runs .asp nativly, but you can install the .php binary if you would like to code in .php. IIS is better supported, easyer to set up, and maintain, and is much, much faster!

No, its not, yet, but we'll make you either a mod of DW, or have a php forum inside it, just for you

Regester, and I'll make you one.

We have thoughrt about it, but dont quite know how to do it, its in XMB format, so i don;t know how easy it is to port the SQL to a format wml can read.

Is it apache or IIS? I ask cos only apache supports .htaccess i think, and apache is usually found on linux... Front page extensions use .htaccess, and sometimes editing it can disrupt the site... Dont know about the image mate, sorry! This message was posted from a T65

Yeah sorry, pressed the wrong button... None of that applies! - it was for a different thread! What i was gonna say was that it shouldnt be too hard, xmb is php, and you can taylor the output to any form by editing the source... Thanks for the proposed new forum, ill go down there asap! Btw, apart from the speed, are there any other advantages of IIS? And how much does it cost? Cheers This message was posted from a T65

IIS, like Apache, is free, it comes on the Windows2000 CD, WindowsXP Pro CD and you can download it from the microsoft website. Aside from speed there is one major advantage; Apache uses binary's, and an API, which means that you are limited to the functions built into the language, with IIS it uses a framework, so you can in efect, expand this, and build anything you like, with no limits, making the language as you go. Thats why most companys, use .asp or .jsp. .php is easy to learn for a home-user or for building normal site,s but if you are building a totally new and unique function, you would only be able to do this with .asp, or .aspx or .jsp. And IIS can only run these properly, apart from .jsp, where you need a Sun applience.

So you are saying that .asp is more complex and versatile? And is used for business websites? (i wondered why everywhere used .asp!) i was under the impression that it was simpler and used for mostly microsoft stuff... Sorry to bombard u with questions, but what is the difference between .asp and asp .NET? Can you run IIS on linux? (stupid question i know!) and can asp use mysql or does it have to use access? Thanks! This message was posted from a T65
