but i fail to see anything gay about the phone. I would understand if it was pink or purple but nothing gay about it. Strange.

That is something that Motorola has done in the US to try and stop ebay resellers and fakes.
But it's not legal to do that in the European Union, as it contravenes the free trade laws, so in other words in the EU you can do as you please.
