It willnot work, chandu. I think airtel andrapradesh is working on closing free browsing loop hole. Previously in gujarat, we were surfing for free using teashark. But they had fixed the hole and now it is chargeable. While they were fixing my friends and i have problem accessing teashark.
Can your friend able to run it being on airtel ? Have you try to use another provider sim and try to run it? Do this little experiment and report?

It seems a bit slow IMO

Right, it's slow because it has to download the same amount of data as, for example, Internet Explorer would have to download on a computer. The difference is, that the computer's internet bandwidth probably is much larger than the bandwidth available on the 3G phone, and thus, the download time is larger. This is the main reason for designing special 'wap' pages or pages for mobile use, with less contents in order to reduce bandwidth. OperaMini's approach is different. The page is downloaded to Opera's server, where it is processed, and a compressed and stripped version is passed to the phone.

btw, I tried to visit www.sonyericsson.com with teashark, and it was not very successful, since much of the contents is based upon Macromedia Flash and similar.

No it willnot work on nop as well. May be you can try. But before trying, try to install it on your phone with other service provider like vodafone, idea etc.
May airtel is working on teashark server to close the loop. May be ucweb is not in their list.
