True words indeed. I still think its over priced with the original price. I have seen the k800i online still @ Carphone but i wonder if its refurbished models now though. W995 will be around for ages yet because if the rubbish w910 is still around now then no way are they discontinuing the w995

The K800's at CPW certainly are refurbs mate. The phones that get traded in also get refurbed if they're not in too bad a state and then sold at just under their actual retail price.

Oh and I only got my Bronze C905 very recently at £205 brand new and sim free

The thing is that SE overpriced the W995, I mean instead selling it at 590$ first week and now 350$ just 3 months later they could have begin with 450$...
Now with a Satio sold sometimes at 800$ (600$ for omnia hd) the drop would take a little time but it will hurt! Imagine it at 600$ 2 months later and 500$ after 3 months
The SE marketing as Eldar M said is verry crappy in term of pricing and distribution, nokio is way better in that particular field

That's not exactly the case everywhere, too. Satio is the same price as OmniaHD here and mostly it takes some time before SE phones get a major price cut

Maybe but is'nt the price down to the store?

Yes and no. It depends on the deal in which the retailer buys the products from the manufacturer, or the recommended retail price the supplier/manufacturer issues to the retailer. Theres many other reasons too, such as competition from umm.. competitor devices such as Nokia. Or it could simply be the retailer bought too large an allocation of stock which are firm sale (not returnable) and is struggling to shift enough units at the current price.

My guess would be on Phones4U getting more profit by selling many more phones at a lower price coupled with the compulsory airtime. The commission they gain by getting more people to start new PAYG sims with the networks than simply selling less units at a higher margin probably makes it more worthwhile.

I love the W995, but unfortunately when phones like the Satio are around they're nothing but a missed opportunity for me, since i cant live my life carrying round one of everything !

Maybe due to the high demands of the w995 in the market that's why the price remains as what it was when it was first released. Basically, price drops so companies can keep abreast among its many competitors. In this case since the phone still sells like hotcakes they don't feel the need to drop the price just yet. I think the phone is great. I am very satisfied with its performance from the day i bought it at timtechs. It's a whole package, the camera, the music, especially the style of the phone.
