The A-ZoTT is, as it has always been, a guide and should be used as exactly that. No feedback service ever guarantees a deal but merely offers a reflection of someone's previous actions as a trader. This is intended to help all, irrespective of which social networks or self proclaimed "elite" groups they inhabit, but must only be considered as a factor amongst others in helping you deal securely. Of course if you consider this useless there is no obligation to use it.
Now before getting too far off topic, its always unfortunate to see situations of discontent such as this but, as ever, communication is absolutely paramount. Most problems can be resolved by being honest and up front and I hope you guys can come to an admirable solution.

No disrespect intended to you personally Craig.
so what you're saying is that unless you're a regular member of twitter we might be dodgy??? seems a little unfair on us genuine people that trade and ARE trustworthy, unless im also considered among those that might not be??

Well said Shelly! Most of us contributing to this thread have been on this site for many years and we know who to deal with and who to avoid. We have all been surprised of late at the deals that have gone wrong with people who you would never dream would go bad.
I am quite prepared to forgive once but some people do take the pee! And I am not a Twitterer either.......

and it is very easy to misjudge someone who you only deal with online, it doesnt matter if you converse with them daily over a long period of time its still possible to pretend to be something you are not online. For instance some people like to think they are above other people and all high and mighty but turn out to be the biggest hypocrits you could ever wish to have the misfortune of encountering.

Ha, believe you me, if i thought the A-Z was "useless" or, if i thought that "everybody" who chooses not to avail themselves of getting to know trading partners via social media was "dodgy" i would have bloody said exactly that!
I'd rather know who i'm dealing with, then potential pitfalls can be reduced to a minimum, basic common sense in my book.
Mutleyboy has a point, i thought i had a good understanding of his character until he welshed (no pun intended) on two done deals that i had the good grace not to highlight in the A-Z.

The overriding point is that you should only make a deal when you are completely happy and comfortable with the conditions and the person you are dealing with. The A-ZoTT just aids you in this and isn't a definitive factor, other sources are useful too to some but not others. Of course they certainly don't guarantee anything more than say the A-ZoTT, regular forum use or good old common sense either.
Ultimately, do a deal YOUR way with who YOU'RE happy with, if you aren't comfortable then don't deal, it's never worth unnecessary risk.

What is the point of having a trusted traders list if its not used to highlight the negative and positives? Good grace not to mention it? I would have been more than happy for you to list the said deals as negatives for me, fact of the matter is I did not receive anything and not pay for it nor did I accept payment and not send anything.
I would have been happy for you to list a negative and explain what had happened and then have all involved parties explain their side of the story, and allow people to judge whether to trade with me after having all the information out in the open

No disrespect taken , and im not casting doubt over anyone....Scottt included. However if a person has garnered 6 negative feedback, 2 of them quite recently then it stands to reason that other people will be wary of dealing with that person. Now speak as you find is my motto and the two dealings ive had with Scottt have turned out Ok and on that basis i can see why he has gathered a positive feedback of over 70........bui it still doesnt alter the fact that 6 different traders have found reason to post negatives, and looking at the names most are very respected traders themselves. Thanks to the A-Z i have never had a problem on here.....and that could change on my next trade, its a gamble you take. But as i have said, its far from redundant.
Regards Craig

Well said Mik!
I myself are pretty much open to anyone to make a deal with, but I agree that one should take a bit more care than I do. Got screwed a couple of times too (though mostly via ebay), but yeah, guess that's my own fold
Quite agree with Mark that over twitter you get to know people a bit better, but I don't think that should be any more thrusted than the A-Z, as the people who are trying to screw you will most likely pretend they are perfectly normal through Twitter, facebook or whatever.

I certainly don't post on here regularly anymore, and I'm definitely not among the elite, but I can say that none of us should lose perspective. Esato is a great site, with a great board, and is often home to some cracking deals. I've dealt with several people in this thread, and it's worth remembering that the vast, vast majority of trades done on Esato aren't dodgy in any way, shape, or form! Most of them go so swimmingly smooth that none of us notice them. Don't let one PERHAPS sour deal make you doubt the legitimacy of the many users of this board.
You can see how long I've been around here. It would be a shame for people to start harbouring distrust. The A2Z is a great utility and I welcome it's existence. It should and will continue to be used both as a reference and as a guide. Nothing is ever guaranteed when buying via the web, but Esato is a trustworthy place. Long may it remain.
