Ok about the life of this new battery:

it seems alot worse! I was getting 24hours life from the original battery and this now seems to be half that only getting 12hours, and thats just with a few sms and moderate internet browsing! I know the battery needs a few cycles to reach peak, So I am waiting to see how it develops, but at the moment not good!

Gregpot2000,

I concur wholeheartedly!

My bst-40 has been a disapointment also. I too was seeing about 12 hours (or less) life, even with only moderate use.

Also it seemed to confuse the Satio battery indicator. At times it would read three quarters full and yet still die.

I'm thinking maybe it's a bad battery? Maybe it's just not compatible with the Satio software (expecting 1000mAh)? Maybe the battery needs a week or two to improve its capacity, I know my bst-33 did.

It's been so bad in fact that I've reverted back to the bst-33.

If you are sticking with your bst-40 Gregpot then let me know how things continue please.

i bought BST 40 and it barely fits with small blug in the middle of the batter cover.. but works finely...battery cover is more firm than before..
and i see the battery life is somewhat improved. so its worth using BST40

Are you sure it was from Amazon itself? or was it an amazon shop like ebay does?

Mine was Amazon as well, and is an original S.E battery, with all the logo’s and holograms etc on it. I am going to give it the benefit of the doubt and presume it just needs to be “run in” at the moment before reaching peak performance. I am going to give it a couple of weeks and see if it improves, as even though it is only lasting 12hours currently it’s not causing me that much of a problem, as I have a charger everywhere I go, several at home, one at work and also a car charger, So I am hardly ever somewhere where I cannot charge it.

Bought another BST-40 from an online shop and better seems to be preforming better.
I only have it in the phone for a day and am running Handy Shell now so its hard to say how much extra the battery is lasting.
It was a tight squeeze to get the back cover on, but it fits without any modification.

I am not convinced that the improvement is very noticeable with the BST-40 battery after such a short time of usage as is mentioned in here. To begin with 1120 mAh is only 11% better than the original 1000 mAh that the BST-33 can deliver, and there is a burn-in period for at least a couple of weeks before the battey reaches its full capacity.
I would have liked a more scientific test with two identical Satios running exaclty the same programs in identical environments for a while and compare the two batteries.
