The article doesnt tells wheter they where on or off, but I assume they were on.
I saw that the test was made by a Danish magazine, but published in Aftonbladet.

Thnx!! But do you know if there are some kind of way to go around this "problem" or is it so that we just have to accept it?

There was also a story about an old 688 that fell and bounced about 3 kilometres downhills during a mountain climbing in the alpes, the battery disappeard, and so did the SIM card, but when those were replaced, it still worked. But the 688 was one of those black thingies with magnesium alloy frame.
I suspect that in all those stories, there must have been a bit of luck involved also. I have also heaard about people dropping a T39 from about 50 cm from the floor, and it broke. That's bad luck I guess.

I work in a place where we hear a lot of these stories, one of the best is about a guy who crashed on his motorcycle into a tree with 200km/h, he had his R310 in his chest pocket and got a R310 shaped mark on his chest after it, and oh, he went to the hospital for three months, and yes, the phone worked perfectly after this little incident.

I also heard about this guy whos dog suddenly came walking with his R310 in the mouth, the phone had been missing for weeks, and it had surived several weeks with rain outside, and regarding the tooth marks the dog had been playing around with it for quite a while.
