I think the problems for SE are to get people to try their phones. I think a lot of people would like it if they only gave it a chance.
The only reason Nokia has the market share they have today is their 3210/3310 phones. The big market share are from these phones. But they are really old today (even if the 3310 still sells well). I'm a bit surprised that the 3310 still sells that well, because it's actually one of the worst low-end phones today. The competition has better battery performance, are smaller and has about the same price. And i-m just talking about SE here there are a lot of very good phones in the low-end segment. But still people tend to buy the 3310. That shows how much the fact that it says Nokia on the front means.
When it comes to high-end phones Nokia has never really been in the frontline. But that is not were the big market share is.
I think Nokia's market share will go down quite alot in the years to come. The asian manufacturers will be a though competitors on the low-end market. Another thing is that Nokia can't sell the same phone for like 3 years like they did with 3210/3310, the competition today is much to though for that to work.
In the high-end market, SE has always been ahead of Nokia. My guess is that SE has a pretty good marketshare of the high-end phones. What SE needs is some low-end phones that can sell bucket-loads.

My girlfriend is groaning everytime she sends an SMS, says itīs a pain compared to Nokia.. and i tend to agree.. (she has the last good looking SE phone, the t200 btw) When i switched from 8310 to t68 i wasnīt too impressed myself.. but being used to adapt to different UIīs.. I have one Mac, one Windows PC and one Unix in my office i didnīt find it very hard, but i can understand people who donīt like SE interface. Going from SE --> Siemens was easy, in my opinion itīs the best from both worlds..
I think the secret is that most people can handle the Nokias even without looking in the manual, and outside this forum there arenīt that many tech-heads iīm afraid

yeh, I asked my mate why he was going from his t68i to a nokia, cant remember which model as they have so many, he just said cuz its idiot-prood, he said he knows the t68i is way better but doeasn't need it. Personally i dont think the t68i is that great a phone, it is really too slow, but it does have a lot of funcionality which i enjoy using and playing with. personally i dont think the SE interface is very hard to use, in fact it's very simple compared to some other manufacturers, but the nokia one is kinda easy. Anyway, hopefully i will be able to pass on my t68i when my p800 comes... cant wait.

The mojority of mobile users aren't like esato users in that thay just want a mobile for what they are really meant for - to make calls and send sms. Nokia phones (like 3410) are easily easiest for this type of thing.
Hell even my mum can use a 3310! and that is saying something. How many people's parents here would actually understand a t68i?
My mum struggled with ericsson and phillips phones so much, now she can even send a text...sometimes!
The majority of mobile users probably think bluetooth is a mouth disorder

they hv fewer stumps than SE does.. I never upgraded software for a nokia.. it has always been flawless
Nokias r durable.. X-press on faceplates.. I miss that soooooo much..
u try replacing a faceplate on a T68i or a P800
fast menus.. no loading time.. I love it..
nokia games r better.. Bounce, Snake.. who can really say that they rather hv 6 card games over Snake?

Sure Nokia's interface was good a few years ago, but compared to the user interfaces of phones like the T68/T300, Siemens S55, Panasonic GD87, Nokia is really loosing out on the ease of use part as well as the features part.
Nokias interface was very good when the phones had small screens, but today the are not that good anymore. Especially not on the newer Nokias with more features (and more menu items)

What do you mean ppcrockar? The Series 40(5100/6100/6200/6610/6800/7210/7250/7250i) user interface is very friendly. The screen is bright and the menu system utilizes the colours & resolution beautifully. I think the Nokia menu system and ease of use have only gone forward. Symbian is more complicated but it's meant for advanced users anyway.
And I'm not sure about your views on Nokia's market share either. Sure worldwide it's the low end phones that sell best but I would say Nokia's 6xxx, 8xxx and 9xxx series have been very popular among the high-end users too.
