thought this was the case, i am now dissapointed, owning a p800 you may as well listen to your mp3 using the supplied headphones, which will still take calls (mute) etc. SE needs to understand that to make a true bluetooth mp3 they need to develop bluetooth headphones that connect to say a p800 to listen to mp3. This new device defeats the objective of using bluetooth instead you now carry two devices around with you.

Well, according to the SE web site, this BT MP3 player can be used without the phone, so it basically a MP3 player by itself despite the BT headsfree function. With the nice design and compact size, I would love to use it as a in-room player as well, when paired with my Desktop speakers.
This MP3 player can work with most BT phone, and I do not know can we control it remotely from the phone yet, since there is a display unit on the MP3 player already, but I guess they should incoporate it as well, playlist could come up just like the WinAmp control made by Christersson.

doesn't need to understand anything... it's you who needs to understand the capabilities of Bluetooth... do you have any idea how horrible audio files will sound if transmitted via Bluetooth? And how short your battery life would be, since both devices would have to be transmitting all the time? And what's with the comment on carrying 2 devices? If they came up with a device that you asked for... how many devices would you be carrying??? One??? The audio quality alone should be enough for anyone who's not deaf, to NOT want a Bluetooth MP3 device to transmit the audio via BT.
The MP3 solution of OpenBrain and
is the best for what every mp3 nut has been asking for. A stereo MP3, BT handsfree set. What advantages would YOUR dream device have over this one?

Technically mate, you are of course correct, but I can appreciate the theory of what davey's getting at. If bluetooth audio transmission could handle it, you've got to admit it would be a better solution. Sure it will happen eventually too. BT's gonna take some development to perform the features that concept projects like Orange's are promising.
I don't really see the point of the new player myself. With SE due to release a 1GB mem stick duo by end of Q3, why not just store on the P800 and play with the existing headphones?

. Now, with regards to where the music is stored... seriously... does it matter? Now, with the solution davey (and other illogical people) are proposing... what if I have a BT phone, that doesn't have media capabilities? The current solution actually is better since now, I can have multiple phones, and still listen to my music! This means that, whether I take my T68i or my P800... I have the same headset, and can still have my music. Now, if the music I want is on the Duo of my P800...duh, pop out the Duo and take it with you! Or, transmit the MP3 files to the headset via BT.

Supposing we ignore the BT audio aspect. Given that surely most
phones of the future will be more complete mobile entertainment solutions like the p800, it's a funny time to release such a product.
In this instance, it would mean carrying 2 devices instead of 1 for no apparent gain.

You're right on the number of devices mate, think I'm frying my brain!
But, kinda defeats the object of the best application of bluetooth so far i.e. the headset, don't you think.
Anyway, you make a good case....
Clearly one of the people round here who really knows their stuff. Don't suppose you know anything about the HCB-30? I've started a thread but can't get any help. Are you familiar with it? If so, give me a hand on the thread, it's the HCB-30 and multiple handsets question.

I believe there are many people out there has BT phone without storage nor MP3 playback function, and lot more are looking forward to buy one with BT function as manufacturers have started embracing this feature, such as Siemens.
The release of this BT MP3 handsfree is in line with the upcoming phones, such as T610 and another colour screen CDMA phone equipped with BT (T608? can't remember what exactly is the model number).
I appreciate the all-in-one style of smart phone, espcially for those have been carrying around PDA and mobile. Many out there do not need a PDA (yet), would appreciate a smaller phone and internal storage, despite it has smaller capacity (1Mb for T68i, 2Mb for T610, etc) for pictures to be displayed on the phone, ringtones and basic personal information.
IMHO, this device does have an area of overlapping feature with P800, but it has also covered a much larger potential area which is currently uncovered.
I am looking forward to its pricing and might as well pick up one.
