Damn!
As of this morning (12-03-03) both
www.cyren-communications.co.uk and
www.mobilesuk.net have changed their offers! Not quite as good value now - I've emailed then to see if they will honour yesterday's price but not holding out for it. Anyone seen anywhere cheap yet today?
Cheers.

I ordered from mobileuk, it should be here this morning! cant wait...
but if you have a look you'll notice that the change is on the talk 400, but they now give £100 cashback, but for £120.99, and £200 cashback on the higher cost tarrifs, so really it's exactly the same, not sure how the cashback works though.

Just ordered mine from mobilesuk.net too. £70 tariff and £121 for the phone but £200 cashback after 6 months (you have to send bills for month 4,5 and 6 to them, but only need to be on tariff upto month 4). By my calcs assuming a 'normal' £15 tariff, I get the phone for:
121 + (70-15)*4 - 200 = £141
Not bad really - this is the best I can find as of today - no doubt it will be cheaper somewhere 2mo, but by then I'll be playing with the new toy. BTW, I have noticed a couple of the sites talking about Orange increasing handset prices from April 1st - anyone know if is this true?

I've ordered from the same place too this morning!!!, same deal.
But I was speaking to someone else from Cyren and they were sayin that Orange could kick up a fuss if u change from a high tariff to a considerable lower one after 4 months.....which I’m sure many of us will be doin...so we just gotta wait and see what happens I guess!
Can't wait till tomorrow now all I need to do is find somewhere to get it unlocked!

Phone £121
First four months £70ea = £280
Next eight months = 8 x £15
Which comes to £320 total cf a sim-free phone.
You are assuming £15 expenditure each month
in your calculation to start with?

Ordered mine from Cyren before the price rises.
So I'm expecting:
£20 for the phone
4 x £45 for 4 months of OVP O2 400
8 x £14 for 8 months of OVP T-Mobile Freetime 750
= total £312
However, I've also added in Orange care as this phone is too expensive and new to not have it insured somehow.
So you can add another £60 to that for a total of £372.
Not bad for 12 months use of a phone that sells for £500 contract free and as many minutes bundled in as I will use during this 12 months.

Well, I just meant that the minimum you are going to spend on line rental these days is £15, at least if you want a new phone that is. therefore I was just taking these costs as set, and working out the extra cost on top of the phone. (I realise your line rental subsidies the phone itself, but for the purposes of calculating the best deal, that is irrelevant.)
Therefore, aside from that line rental, my phone will cost me £141 (total for year = £141 + £180 line rental = £321). If I had connected to £15 tariff, then phone would be over £200 (total = £380). If I get a sim-free phone then it will be more like £300, and then I need to sort out a pay monthly deal separately and I guess if I found a sim-only deal for under £80 this would be the better option but I seriously doubt I can get a decent tariff for less than £80/year, (plus no use of a ridiculous no. of x-net mins for 4 months!).
I remember the days when for £17.50 I got voda sim-deal with 12 months rental, free billing, 200 mins off-peak and reasonable call charges. These days, yearly cost more like £80 as they add billing each month.
Anyway, my point is, this is the cheapast way to get a P800 over the year aside from possibly getting it SIM free, but then you need to sort the tariff separately so I think this would work out much more expensive. Plus 700 xnet mins a month for 4 months! My head is going to be well and truly cooked by July...
