> p800 soft unlock voids orange care?
Bookmark topic
yo bro, but dont orange take the phone in to unlock it? ie. you cant jus pay them £20, and then they send out codes, you have to send it to them, otherwise i will just ring up for the codes obviously. And so you will send it, it will be broken, and unlocked allready. It would make sense to just ring you bro but this way others can see... hehe..

Orange give you the unlock codes over the phone, you do not take your phone anywhere to have it unlocked. That's why they take 7-10 days to do it - they have to contact SE and request the code from them.

You'll have to wait a week or so, then they'll get back to you with them.

@Andy_P
http://www.orange.co.uk/business/products/services/high_speed_data_matrix.html
Says it's included there, except for 'Smartphones' such as the 9210.
Now, some people may well class the P800 as a smartphone like the 9210, i don't know. However, when i changed tariffs to HSD they knew what phone i had, i explicitly told them again, and then checked that the tariff did include Orange Care - the answer was undeniably 'yes'.
And on my bill, this would seem the case too - i got my P800 on the 21st february, asking for my billing date to be the 28th of each month (though it seems they made it the 25th), then changed talkplans that night to the HSD. My bill shows i have been charged from 21st feb-25th feb of YP120, then 26th feb-25th march on HSD plan. The 'new orange care registration' shows me charged £0.83+VAT between 21st feb and 25th feb - then no further charges for care.
I'd ring up again and complain, or get that letter to them. If you have no joy and are in the right, escalate it to the executive office and see what they have to say.
@daz:
Just their usual C/S, 150 isn't it?

Removing the Orange logo won't void he warranty any more than writing your name on the back in black marker pen (should you so desire

)
Unauthorised unlocking of the phone WILL invalidate the warranty but this is not realistically a problem, as you will receive your replacement handset before Orange get yours back and they won't claw you back retrospectively.
The use of a different SIM also invalidates you warranty/Care but again, this shouldn't be a problem as Orange won't check which SIM you were using unless you have a suspicious claims history (ie lots of previous ones!)
You can definitely cancel Orange Care within 14 days. This is a statutory right and although many of their retarded reps may not know the rules, ask to speak to a supervisor and tell them that... you will soon find Care removed from your account.
Don't let the bastards grind you down

orange do give the codes over the phone BUT they dont get these codes from SE the codes are made up from the phones IMEI number some websites will do a 24 hour unlock u give them your IMEI number and within 24 hours they give u the unlock code,
orange do not contact SE in any way to get your UNLOCK code since orange allready know the codes!,

i agree if they will not allow your 14 day take back polacy, i would contact tradeing standards but give it another go before takeing it that far it could judt be a waste of time! (they may not refund any calls made from the handset + sms mms and gprs usege but then i think u wouldnt mind paying for thous costs just to get this problem solved

These aren't nokia's we're playing with, jamatjam; you don't get SE IMEI calcs like you do DCT-4!
Orange do not generate the unlock codes from IMEI whatsoever - they don't even do that for nokia's. Either they are given every single code when they buy the lot of phones from SE, nokia etc, or else they do have to contact the manufacturer, and ask them to send over the codes for specific handsets.

yep thats definately the case - thats the reason for the 10-14 day wait. This was explained to me by a very helpful chap at Orange Customer Services.
I think he must have left since I spoke to him... haven't found anyone else there helpful yet
Time to start an Orange Customer Services letter I believe.
*** Does anyone have a bill to hand with a customer services address? I can't see it on their website.
