Yes we can discuss why your phone wont recognise it,.....so lets get this straight am i "The chief of the bores" ??? or an "independantly boring chief" Ha Ha........
Anyway, i would like it loads if we COULD use larger Duo's, it just doesnt seem likely, SE may wont us to keep our P800's for a while but Sony will have other ideas & limiting the P8's memory capacity may be a marketing ploy.

It seems to me that printed statements about how large a MS Duo the P800 can support (in this case 128Mb) has a lot to do with what capacity is actually available on the market to the consumer at the time.
It would have been silly to say "Supports MS Duo up to 256Mb" when no such product existed or was on the horizon.
(On the other hand-- if the statement was "Supports up to 64Mb" when a 128Mb Duo *is* available, that *would* suggest an abolute limitation-- but fortunately this is not the case.)

Well, they could've easily placed "Supports MS Duo" period. They didn't need to put a number limit.

Yea, but its not just the fact that it has said 128mb in the manual, but i have read in other forums (my-symbian.com) comes to mind many times over the past 5 months i have had a p800 that 128 is the maximum the phone is designed to use.
I must point out at this point that i find it VERY unimportant to have huge mb Duo's as you can just go & get 2 or more 128's & keep them under your battery cover or pocket, this gives you large memory now.

A hardcopy of the manual is always prone to mistake

(remember that the p800 should have been released sooner than later and if the manual was finished sooner then the available technology by then probably limited the duo to a capacity of 128mb even though the p800 could theoretically support more)
And as for having a several 128mb duo's as oppose to having one large > 256MB. it comes down to convenience (not to mention if I was carrying several 128mb I'd be more likely to misplace them somewhere =)

Guys, guys, listen to me. What other devices are there out in the market that uses the MSD. At present, only the P800!!! Correct me if I am wrong. Of course, there is the SE bluetooth MP3 player. Thus, if there is commotion that larger MSDs are coming, I'm sure they would have known if it can be used with the P800.
As for the manual, I think SE did the same with the HPM-10 MP3 player attachment - "up to 64mb MMC card". But we all know that the HPM-10 can handle hight capacity; namely the 128mb MMC.

I cant beleive you guys!!!!!!
The P800(Hardware!!!!!!!) can take any size DUO!!!!
And because of that it will work!
It is a software problem! And because the SW is half owned by sony and sony wants to sell duo!!(to make money!) they will push that the p800 software will support larger DUOs!
