Lord viper, i think the thing about charging the battery often will reduces its life is true. However i myself don't give a rats arse. I charge it every night before i go to bed. Like you said, if we were to wait for the bloody thing to go dead then charge it, its too much trouble. However, try a sim of a different provider for a few days, see if there's a difference with the sos calls thingy and your battery life. :-) There was a difference with mine. Cheers :-)

All rechargable batterys have a number of charging cycles before they become ineffective. Li-ion and li-pol batterys are best if not fully discharged.

i agree with you lord viper, i expected a lot more from SE in the P800, i spent a fortune getting the phone, and then when i started using it, i realized that its battery goess of in a day or a day and a half at MAX! it wouldnt go any further, whether i recieve calls or not, its just like that, i went to phones4u in uk to check it out, and they gave me another baterry from the back, which they said it was new and never charged, i used it, and i have the same problem!! and when i asked them to change the phone for me, they said they cannot, coz i passed the 30 days limit, and it can only be fixed... so its kinda like, WTF!!!! how am i suppose to fix the problem if i dont get the phone replaced!!! as in if it had a fault in the phone, then what would the fixing do?? i never used the phone in its initial perfect mode.. even after fixing it, it will be repaired, not new... it just sux.... now that am back home, and gotta wait till i go back to uk after summer.. so all this time i have to suffer with it, and i even end up using my beloved t68(its not SE its ericsson only) its just the best, i thought it sucked and the p800 will kick its arse as in no other thing... but it just happened to be that "old is gold"

I've had my P800 for about 5 months now...no problems... I do get the white screen of death... but I think it's cuz I use a lot of freeware, shareware apps that aren't really full versions yet.

On this subject of overcharging the phone, I have a tendancy to sit it on the desktop cradle as soon as I get home from work. Is this a really bad idea? If so SE should make a cradle that has a switch on it so you can prevent power passing to the phone when you want.
I personally like having it sat in cradle when I am sat at my pc and having to turn the cradle upside down to pull out the power seems crap to me.

This might help as has been said earlier: i`m using O2 sim card, sometimes i insert different provider sim cards, such as Vodafone and T-Mobile. And i can say that reception is better then on some Nokias!!!( checked many times!) BUT!!!- when it comes to Orange sim card- i feel destroyed- no reception, or, there is reception but when i`m trying to call i`m loosing it ....there is a war between my SE and Orange? who knows/ so try different provider...

THREE REALLY IMPORTANT THINGS;
1.The li polymer batteries are crap for about 5 to15 charging cycles, then they get much better. (many perfectly good t68 batteries got returned early)
2.How hard your phone has to work to keep a signal can VASTLY affect battery life.( so if you get lots of this "emergancy calls only" it means your phone is fighting hard to keep a signal due to a poor signal area).
3.The display light is the MAIN consumer of battery life by along way, reduce the time it stays on & you save lots of battery.
These have been mentioned in this thread, but i felt i needed to back up the people who posted them.
