My question exactly. SE already has this feature on the t68, so why not port it to the ubiq os? Despite handwriting recog, etc. it's still pretty limited. All of you who think 'Jot' is an end-all-be-all solution have more patience than I. I print like an 8 year old when I write and I still find myself backspacing on practically every word. When the heat's on and you're trying to scratch out an email you want to throw the precious p800 against a sturdy surface.
Give us some predictive input you lazy SE people, or will we have to pay for that TOO?

It's a PDA and they don't need predictive text like a normal cellphone. Because it is not a normal cellphone. We will just have to wait and see for SE or some third party company to make it. Though I don't need it.

SE do not just rebadge T9 as their own and jiggle about with the layout so it's slightly different!!!
T9 is a completely different product devised by a compay called Tegic. AOL has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Ericsson used T9 on some old phones, as did Sony.
All phones from the T68 onwards do not use T9 they use a completely different software developed in house by Ericsson.
It just happens to have a similar functionality to Tegic's T9.

I have just checked the t68i's me shop stocks and according to the manual it says...
"you can use T9(Trademark) Text Input for entering text messages."

But PDAs (both Palms and PPCs) have predictive input, so no excuse.

lots of misstruths here.
T9 is NOTHING to do with AOL, its an algorythm created by Telgic Ltd to provide easy entry of text using the 9 keys of a phone. Phone companies who wish to use T9 need to have it liscensed from Telgic Ltd. Telgic provides the algorythm, and an initial databse for words. For each phone that uses T9, a royalty fee has to be paid to Telgic Ltd.
Nokia was the first company to support T9 predictive text, implementing it at a basic level + dictionary. SE's T9 software adds in circling forward and back through candidates, whilst Samsug T100's braindead implementation doesnt even have a dictionary. However they are all T9, and the suggestions are the same no matter which phone u use.
So to summarise: for those who say SE doesnt use T9 on the t68, you are WRONG. it DOES use T9.
IF T9 is ever introduced to the P800, its likely going to cost you, coz of the liscense fee that would need to be paid.

I dont text while driving anymore & i know the incedents of "unexplained bad driving" causing death & carnage on the roads is often checked against the drivers mobile billing records & found to be coinciding with a text being sent, so stop doing it now is the advice of sensible drivers & hospital staff.
