Update on this topic: yesterday another nokia exploded in NL. This time the phone was a very recent purchase, and had the original Nokia battery.

Unfortunately Nokia refuses to comment on the issue, which has prompted the owner (or family??) to sue for damages.....

I hope that will at least force nokia to have a very very very good look at their circuits....

To be continued..

True, it was an original Nokia battery, but not the BLD-3 (previously 720 and now, according to the Nokia website 780mAh) that comes with the 7210, but a BLB-2 (800/830mAh). So perhaps this difference in mAh caused it to burst into flames.

I think nokia should do like SE did whit the exploding charger and change them before annything happen. Nokia shold change all the phones that is dangerous.

WEll it seems like it can happen to original batteries as well, but nOKIA says its not true. But according to test both in Belgium and Denmark, you can shortsurcit a NOKIA. When that happens that NOKIA battery starts to swell, and get warm, and suddenly burn. So I am certain that we now got proof that NOKIAS is dangerous.
