Open the email on your phone and save to archive. Then edit the email, highlight each smiley and press option on it, then 2 to edit word, the smiley shoul be in this box, press yes and it's in your t9. Just press ... to access them, up and down will scroll through them.

or if you do not have email set up on your phone you can use one of the internets free text messaging services and txt the symbols to your phone. Then just do the same as BOSSHOGG described above
