Starting from week 44 (at the end of of Octobers) the successor of the P800 is to come into the shops - the P900.
In the comparison to the P800 the P900 is somewhat smaller (117x57x27mm) and easier (130g). Purely optically it works however deutlisch slimmer and by far more nobly than the blue Platikhaufen. The equipment makes a very stable impression. The Akkuabdeckung is pulled out again and knarzt no more.
The TFT screen represents again 65'000 colors, is however somewhat dark and reflects rather strongly. In the Flip Closed mode is larger the Bildauschnitt with 208x208 pixel and offers far from more overview with Flip Closed applications.
During the operation the new UIQ 2,1 is most obvious - the graphic user surface of the Symbian OS. With graphically aufwaendigen " Themes " the surface of the P900 can be changed. Most control elements come along in the 3D-Look. The appearance of the menus reminds strongly of the T610 with the three-dimensional marking bars etc..
T9 in the Flip Closed mode finally integrated and permitted now also a fast text input with the keyboard.
The keys on the Flip press not as before on the Touchscreen, but function " electronically ". The Zahnstocher of the P800 is a more solid pin yielded, which can be accommodated in the housing, as it one from the Palm knows.
Against past assumptions possesses the P900 " only " one VGA camera (640x480). Without WLan (WiFi) one did.
The software supports a taking up of short video sequences (CommuniCorder). A Instant Messaging application supports the Wireless Village standard, with which short reports in real time can be sent away.
The internal memory will be presumably 16MB large (compared with 12 MT with the P800). According to standard the P900 with a 32MB MEMORY stick duo is delivered.
Beside 24-stimmigen polyp-hone bell tones (so far 16-stimmig) also MP3-Dateien can be used as call clay/tone.
Who expected completely new equipment, at first sight something will be disappointed. Much did not change, except the graphic surface. Technical Spielereien such as WLAN or a megapixel camera is unfortunately not yet integrated in the P900. Transferred from the P800 to the P900 will hardly be worthwhile oneself, except one has the necessary change in addition. Successful equipment is it however in any case - the best was made still better stop.
On a software update for the P800, which will have integrated the new functions of the P900, I would not count, although there would purely technically probably be no obstacles. Sony Ericsson will expect that the Handy Freaks, which a P800 afforded will slam shut anyway also with the P900.
