what tha heck is a colour boost trial.
can it also be turned off or something?

Typo sorry. Colour boost trick, you press *##* at the camera menu screen and you can adjust the colour setting, i have seen no noticible difference though.
I just sent another 2 XL pics to my phone on 255 colour, they were 48 and 49k, I have no idea how i managed to get a 60+k picture, but I swear I did.
