The reception of the T610 is not bad at all. It's pretty good. It's better than my old T68i. This is in Sweden with on the 900/1800Mhz GSM bands. It might not be good on the 1900Mhz band in the US (well mostly in US), but I don't know since I don't live there.

But on the "normal" GSM bands used in most parts of the world the reception is very good.

Almost all people complaining about the reception is from US. Quite alot of people compares the tri-band T610's reception with the reception of other phones that are made for the 1900Mhz band only, you should compare it with other tri-band phones. Antenna design is a complicated issue and the 1900Mhz band is not optimal for an antenna which is made for the 900/1800Mhz. People living in an area which uses the 1900Mhz band should buy the T616 instead since that antenna is optimized for 850Mhz/1900Mhz.

Both the T610 and the T68i performs very well (recpetion wise) compared with some of my friends Nokias. No idea about Samsung though. But the Samsung phones should be better since almost all Samsungs have an external antenna (which has advantages).

It's not that easy to compare reception anyway. You have to be in an area where there is almost no signal, and then try to make a call, and see which phone still can make a call.

The number of "reception bars" on the display is totally irrelevant, since the number of bars represent different things on deifferent brands. Also Nokia phones doesn't refresh the signal bars on the phone as frequently as SE does. Last but not least the singal bars on differnet brands may use different algorithms for signal levels, (the signal bars doesn't have to be linear).

I've had the 7250i as well as the T610 (and now the Z600 which imo beats them both). As previously stated, the 7250i is simply a 7210 with more memory, picture phonebook and a camera. The 7250i is a pretty good phone, no doubt about it, but in my opinion it just isn't in the same league as the t610. And this is coming from a long-time Nokia user. If you can't go without a speakerphone and a radio then by all means get a 7250. But if you want a very complete phone with class, get the t610.
Oh, one more thing. I'm what you might consider a very fast texter. The t9 on the 7250i is spot on, I can never make it run behind me. With the t610, it appears that the text lags behind you if you are very fast, but in reality it is just the words updating that lags slightly. I can text just as fast on a t610 as I can on a 7250i.
If you want a phone that beats them both, get a Z600. Its a better version of the t610, but only as long as you like clamshell/flip phones.
