I had totally the wrong idea about how you did this...

I thought you'd just put one (or two) of those tiny RF reactive LEDs under the logo, and stuck it on... this looks like a massive task!

Ya... that would have been so much easier if it would work. AFAIK Most of the aftermarket items that will illuminate at a distance (1inch -5 feet away from the phone ) require some sort of battery power to them and I didn’t want to go that way. Maybe I’ll look into this further and see if it can be done in a simplified manner that everyone that wants it could do a mod themselves. I’m interested to see if I sparked other ppl to try something now and if they succeed they will also share what they’ve come up with.

As far as the “word” goes... I really didn’t consider “borrowing” the Cradle Emblem as Bastardizing (on the other hand I really did do that to the aftermarket antenna, hehe). If used... the emblem could easily be put back (on the cradle) with very little trouble and no harm done in the act. Sorry for the inference.

I don’t mean to make fun of you in your disbelief. In fact I’m flattered that you though it was too good to be true. I also agree that Photoshop-ing is quite simple to do. I could have wiped something up like in the first photos I presented in about 10 min. of playing around (the vid would have been a challenge though ). On the other hand ppl who know me @ HoFo know when I present something like this I’m not kidding around... I really enjoy doing the real thing!

Yeah, I didn't consider the distance. It would be nice to replace the rear logo with one that glows - a little more subtle (don't get me wrong, yours is subtle enough, but to the unknowing if it were the rear logo it wouldn't look any different until it rings).

I wonder if there are smaller antennas that can be basterdized for this purpose. a little itty bitty LED is all that's needed!

There are certainly miniscule LEDs out there, I've seen some in the form of stickers that you just put near the antenna (that might be what was used on the V66?)

I'm drawing up plans to do this with the rear logo, but I might just scrap them before they make it off the drawing board if I can't make it viable.
Btw, the word people are looking for is canibalize, not bastardize.
Si
