Give Verm a break, can't you see he can't even spell? You shouldn't pick on kids with special needs.

Oh for crying out loud, what is wrong with you people? If Vermania is annoying you then just ignore him, by responding to someone who annoys you all you do is to instigate further instances of annoyance by that person.
Do one of two things:

1.) Ignore Vermania

2.) Retort with witty and humourous or very rude comments of your own.

One thing that people should stop doing is moaning about it. Vermania's comments (which I in fact find more funny than rude because of their sheer rediculousness) are designed to illicit a response from people, and that is exactly what you lot are doing.

I’m very new to Esato. I have, with great amusement read the postings here.

A large number of the postings appear to be from people who have a ‘chip on their shoulder’, chastising new or less intellectually capable and knowledgeable members for their ‘dumb’ questions or their inability to find their answers through their own research or your search facility. Even the moderators seem to show little appreciation of the difficulties of writing in a foreign language.

How many languages (verbal) do you speak? Maybe there should be a day where we all have to write in our 4th language.

I’d suggest that Vermania is a product of your own making. Vermanias will not go away.

I think he’s funny! He should be given his own section where people can let off steam and Vermania will be respected.

Ban him? Reincarnate Spermania!

When he comes on line next, why not welcome, rather than belittle him.

Dear Mr_M

I was very upset and shocked to hear you are unawares of the answer. I will try whole-heartedly to answer this question.

Firstly I wish to break the question down in to sections to make it easier for me to answer the question in hand.

Firstly this is the question, which I must try my best to answer.

"Is there and upgrade for the camera"

Now I will break this in to several smaller questions, which make up the question and will un-doubtable solve the problem we are faced with. The smaller questions I spoke about earlier are: -

Is there a physical camera upgrade available to purchase?
Is there a software upgrade for the camera?
Is there an application that upgrades the camera to record live video?

Above are the three questions I have highlighted. If I answer these one by one I will be able to educate and solve the problem.

Is there a physical camera upgrade available to purchase?

No there is not a PHYSICAL camera upgrade. The p800 camera located on the upper part of the rear of the phone is fixed in to the phone and cannot be removed with out the use of a trained service man. This "CMOS" camera at the moment does not have an upgrade available to make it of higher quality. Please do not hold me responsible for this it is an issue you must take up with Sony Ericsson.

Is there a software upgrade for the camera?

Now this question can be broken in to two questions, which I must do to answer the question in hand. The questions are: -

Is a Firmware upgrade available to make the camera better?
Is there an App, which will improve my camera?

Lets look at the first question firstly.

Is a Firmware upgrade available to make the camera better?

Depending on what firmware you have their is an upgrade available to the firmware which will give you improved camera use. The firmware commonly known as R2F will give you more features and a better graphical user interface than what comes with the older firmwares. To some extend R2D contains these features. So if you were to have this upgrade down then you will have you camera "upgrade" to some extent.

Is there an App, which will improve my camera?

Well I am sadly unaware of an application that can improve the quality of the p800 camera. This is mainly because a camera is more hardware dependant than software. So sadly there is no application, which will give you a camera upgrade.

Is there an application that upgrades the camera to record live video?

Now the final question which I must look at to finally answer the whole question is their an application that upgrades the camera to record live video?

Well there is an application, which allows you to record video. However it is not an upgrade to the camera itself it is merely a packet of data structured to allow the phones camera to be used differently and record video. However it is video with out sound and limited to 10 seconds and also is not variable in quality.

In no way am I disrespecting the program which was made by Phillips I am merely stressing its features and as it is still in early testing we are likely to get an improvement upon this.

Now after looking at the smaller questions and sub questions, which make up the actual question, which is "Is there a camera upgrade available?"

The answer is no. I hope my reply has answered the question you wanted to have answered I tried very hard to answer it fully for further information feel free to contact me. Finally I am sorry if this post has offended any one and I did not intend for this to happen if you are affected by what I have said feel free to tell me I will apologise and make amendments.

Finally I have set up an independent free phone telephone line, which will help people who have further questions and / or have been affected by this post

0800 600 900 (9am – 5pm)

Thank you for your time and thank you the Thread creator for asking such an innovative questions, which I have tried my best to answer. I apologise if I am wrong I have simply tried my best.

Yours Sincerely, Vermania

Further to Vermania’s ‘top man’ answer I can perhaps humbly add my views:

A big deficiency of the camera is it’s performance in low light.

A flash would greatly improve its performance (still shots only) or a very powerful torch or strobe for moving images.

I am told there is, or is going to be, a flash available for the P800, but here in Poland it takes a long time for things to see the light of day.

Here’s a link to a version for the T610:

Perhaps with some small modifications to the firmware you could make this unit work with the P800.

Please do tell us how you get on!
