As many of you guys said, the T9 is the way to go, I personally think the whole "Fastap" thing is B/S... I personally just recently within the last 3 months, got into the T9 thing, because I got my new T610, i figured I would use the T9 thing. All those buttons looked so confusing, and it looked ugly and boring, nothing really pretty, fun, or fancy about those buttons. I have very fat fingers compared to the T610's buttons, I try tho...

I like the Virtual Keyboard, too

I've seen the fastap system on cebit in 2003 and then they said the first mobile phone with fastap would become some sort of Panasonic. But I haven't seen that yet!

And in my opnion an optional bleutooth keyboard would be bether. for example the bluefrog from frogpad: www.frogpad.com

Okay, fastap will never replace T9, at least not for many people. It is slower, and I bet that you can easily tap out an entire message in T9 faster than that stupid "Fast Tap" (assuming that I have "My Words" list set up). Right now, phones' keypads are small enough. We don't need to add extra buttons! It looks cool, but it is very disfunctional. The letter keys are way to small, and it just won't work.

I have seen app's like the frog pad for PDA's, and this function works better. If they were gonna try to change our T9's, they should at least give us something similar to the way that Frog Pad works!!!

I'm not to keen on this 'Fastap' idea. To me it makes the keypad look very cramped and cluttered. I imagine you would end up hitting the numeric pad more often than not.

I'll stick to T9.

I don't use T9, I prefer Multitap, easier to use, specially if you need to write fast.

I think it will be way lot easier and faster in text input, if someone could write a software to recognize free handwriting instead of letter recognition. Theres already one for windows mobiles OS. I think its "callographer" or something.

Yes, but that would require a touch sensitive screen. In any event, I never got used to CalliGrapher or whatever it was on my Pocket PC... I preferred to use Block Recogniser as I've used Grafitti before.

I've got a PalmOS handheld (Visor Deluxe by Handspring) with a mobile phone attachment. I don't use it anymore but when I did, I could write SMS-messages super fast using Grafitti.

When I got my first cell phone I said I'd never figure out how to use T9 and always used Multitap, until someone introduced me to how easy and fast T9 was. Would never go back now!

I dont use T9 and I prefer the multitap. However fastap seems a good idea but not the best idea. The looks will be changed on mobiles to worst and these is something that manufacturers dont want. I prefer a built-in infrared virtual keyboard as well.

At the end, some mobile manufacturers will present mobiles with fastap but it will be a risk.

i think t9 is just as quick enough, i can almost out type my mate how uses a nokia 6820(the one with qwerty keyboard) i think it is cause he cant use all his fingers unless phone is on desk, he only uses 2 or 3 on each hand.

to me send a text message is an art form, i love watching ppl sending text, to see how fast they are, on the other hand it is a serious health risk due to RSI
