yes, you can electroplate plastic, but you cannot dip plastics parts in a piping hot bath of acid as used for metal chroming. Does that make sense? People always get those two mixed up. I have sent plenty of car parts to get chromed. But even the guys at that place told me that the plastic stuff has to be done in a different process (electrolysis) so it cant be included in the price as the metal parts I was getting chromed. They are close but no acid bath for plastics.

So you undertstand what I am saying then! Plastic is even MORE exspensive! My car bumper analogy was to show how expensive a regular electroplating process of a commonly plated product costs. Trust me, I have nothing mixed up. I understand all the processes very well.

And i am allready rolling on the ground from laughing, just with the idea how clean it will stay when you used it !!
You gonna need to wear cotton gloves to take it if you don't want to have him dirty.... lollllllllllllllllllllllllll

This is one of funniest anf the most stupid idea i ever read.... the same problem as Nokia as with his polished aluminium, tooo funny to see the owner cleaning his phone everytime he take it in his hand... lollll
And polished alu is not so fragile as chroom...

How clean it will stay? Just as clean as plastic I guess? I think you mean how visible will the fingerprints be etc. If you are one of those wacko's who has to polish his phone every time he touches it then I guess this definately wouldn't be for you!! I think a chrome P800 would look way cool as most chromed products do but alas, way too expensive for me.

Check out any website that does professional electroplating and you will never see it as cheap as $20!! If you do, steer well clear! They would be cowboys I reckon. The process is very long winded and time consuming and if perhaps you had 100 pieces to do you might get it down to $20 each but for 1 piece...not a chance.

As an example...I found it 400% cheaper to purchase a new replacement MGA bumper than to get the old one rechromed. The new one cost $129...that tells you how much electroplating costs when you are talking one unit rather than hundreds...nearly $500 for a small MGA bumper!! Gulp!

I hate it when you say something and someone turns around and tells you that you are wrong and not a chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PROVIGUY you are wrong! chrome is different to eletroplating!!!!!

HERE READ THIS:

I can keep going if you still think I am wrong...

Er, just to keep you up to speed, the P800 is made of plastic...all these crap home kits *as advertised on TV* are for metal products. Also, have you seen the amount of product you get? Enough to do a few metal rings...forget the up to 20 sq ft mentioned...its bull...I'd like to see you do a car bumper with that kit!! So as I said, there is no way you can get a professional job for $20 and my argument is still valid. Home kits are not professional and having used one myself, not recommended at all ,except to plate a ring or a car badge as I did. Anyway, as I said, not one of the products (actually, they are all the same kit just advertised in different sites) can do plastic.

@ProviGuy you dont get it do you!

get over the car bumper! You said it was chorme done! Not eletroplated!!!! and these are eletroplated kits!!! No chorming here!

These are cheap kits if you look at my first post I said you can get a kits for $150. Did you know 150 is almost 6 times more then the prices that I mentioned before!!! thats means it will be a bigger kit and better quality. bigger enough to do the whole P800!
