I don't think I ever had a cell phone other than GSM standard, but I only had my first one 7 years ago...

So, what'll be the speed of data transfert with 3G?

In WCDMA, user data is spread over a bandwidth of circa 5 MHz. The wide bandwidth supports high user data rates and also provides performance benefits due to frequency diversity. The wideband carrier is also cost-effective as more users can be served by means of a single transceiver. HSDPA will increase WCDMA's peak user data rates from the currently achievable 384 kbit/s to up to 10 Mbit/s in 2005-2006 (with 3GPP release 5).
