sounds to me like a dodgy battery connection because the hour glass thing is what you get if you disconnect the battery while the phone in still on, and then reconnect it and turn the phone on. What it does during the hour glass display is a soft reset.
let us know how you go when you get it back

Got my Z600 for back yesterday. So far, no power-offs so I'm happy for now!
SE claims the battery contact was "dusty"...
Thanks for your help

I've had the z600 for 2 weeks now. The only 'problem' ive encountered is the key tones. Most of the time they sound OK, but once and awhile they sound.....ummm......the best way to describe them is high pitched. Higher then normal. Almost distorted.
The only ive found to correct it is by switching the phone off and on until the problem resolves itself.
I think im going to take the phone in and see if i can get an exchange.

Had my Z600 for about a week now. Best phone I've ever had (and I've had a few). The only complaint I have is that I have a dead pixel in the far top right of the display, but its hardly noticeable and doesnt get in the way of anything so its not that bad.
SMS T9 is fast (much better than any other SE phones I've seen for T9), the phone is stable (hasn't crashed yet and I've barely put it down in the time I've had it). The mophun games are slick and the java games play as well as they did on my 7210 and 7250i. Can't complain there.
My girlfriend has the T610, and in comparison the Z600's screen blows it away. The screen on the T610 is good but when you put it next to a Z600 that both have a lightly coloured theme enabled the T610's colours look washed out compared the the Z600.
As I said, best phone I've ever bought. No major problems at all. Buy one.

As far as i know my SE phones they will work either splendid or not at all. What im saying is that as far as my phones goes - if they had a fault SESC (or mayby its just my support centre thats lousy technicians) had to replace the lot of it, but if they have been working they havent shown a single glitch.
So wish uppon a lucky star boy if you buy one!;-)
But nevertheless its a great phone!
