Hi,

So what do you guys do with your phones? Fondle them?

Seriously though, I am hoping to get a P900 shortly and you are starting to put me off ..

Is this a serious problem?

I think that after a swap or two (could this be the reason for Orange allegedly recalling a batch of P900 as reported on USENET uk.telecom.mobile), and assuming I really love the phone (aaahhh..) I would try to put some silicone grease in tiny amounts between what sounds like snap-on (so presumably snap-off too, but will we be able to snap them on again?) sides and the body. Or perhaps spray these locations very lightly with this Teflon spray which you can get in car spares shops. I would check if the plastic does not get damaged with whatever I apply first.

But then this is just me and my attitude, so if your phone gets dissolved or damaged in any way, do not come back to me or Esato.

I still think this might be nicer than sticky tape, but hey, what do I know ...

Regards from sheep.

V.

Hey guys, yesterday i actually played with a P900 at my local service point for about an hour. I read this thread a few days ago and was just as worried... I thought that the squeak would be troublesome. Well when i got hold of it yesterday, i purposely squezed the p900, only then did it squeak and yes it was more squeaky around the jog dial area. But hey, all i can say is that it DOES NOT bug me in anyway and in ussage, i did not hear any squeaks.. U do NOT grip the phone that hard when u use it. Maybe its squeakyness is comparable to a t300 ? Since i'm a t300 user .... But if U want solid try the R520m now that is SOLID !

Apparently not all P900s are sqeakers. My new unit is practically sqeak-free so it definitely is possible to get a good one. If you don't have a problem with a €900 device handling like a baby toy then that's fine, but most of us expect quality when handing over that kind of cash.

@Peanut,

You're a genious! Applying tape on the MS Duo works amazingly well. My P900 is now completely creak-free. Though, one cannot avoid wondering why SE didn't solve this problem before releasing the phone. No doubt that it'll be fixed in later revisions (like the wobly battery lid on the P800).

I found the best thing to do was loosen the screws a little - this stopped all the squeaks for me
